PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A driver is dead after crashing their car into a Phoenix business, which then caught on fire on Sunday night.

Around 10 p.m., first responders were called to a crash near 15th Avenue and Grant Avenue, just south of Jefferson Street, where a vehicle reportedly went into a business.

As the officers were heading to the scene, they learned that a fire had started in the area of the collision and had spread to the business.

Fire crews extinguished the flames before finding the driver dead inside the vehicle. (Arizona’s Family)

The Phoenix Fire Department arrived and extinguished the flames. Crews checked the vehicle where the driver was found inside and was pronounced deceased. The identity of the driver is unknown.

The roadway is now open after being closed for approximately six hours as crews worked to remove the vehicle from the building and investigate the cause of the crash. It is not known why the driver went into the building.
