Sonam Raghuvanshi was accused of killing her husband Raja Raghuvanshi with the help of her alleged lover Raj.
A fresh lead has emerged in the murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was killed during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. According to an NDTV report, investigators have identified Sanjay Verma, a previously unknown contact, as having exchanged 119 phone calls with Raja’s wife Sonam Raghuvanshi in the weeks leading up to and immediately after their wedding. According to the report, Verma’s number has since been switched off ever since the killing.
The shocking revelations add another layer of intrigue to the case that has captivated national attention. Raja was killed on May 23 in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills, reportedly by hired attackers who pushed him into a gorge near the Wei Sawdong Falls. His body was recovered 10 days later, on June 2. Police say Raja was first attacked with a machete (locally known as a “dao”) by Vishal Singh Chauhan, one of three hitmen allegedly hired by Sonam. She was reportedly present at the scene but fled as Raja cried out in pain, only returning once he had succumbed to his injuries.
CCTV Captures Raja’s Last Departure from Indore
A CCTV video accessed also showed Raja leaving his Indore home before the flight that took him to Shillong. In the footage, he is seen with a sling bag, talking on the phone, and waiting for a two-wheeler taxi. He retrieves a white trolley bag, shares an OTP with the rider, and departs.

The trolley bag seen in the video is believed to be the same one later recovered by police in Meghalaya from a homestay. It reportedly contained Sonam’s mangalsutra and a ring, linking her directly to the crime, NDTV reported.
The murder investigation has seen multiple arrests, and police continue to probe the wider network of conspirators as new digital evidence comes to light.
