NBA Finals logo: Why isn’t the iconic logo on the court?
As Game 1 of the NBA Finals began at Paycom Center, discerning fans on social media asked: “Why aren’t there NBA Finals logos on the court?”
For the most part – there are two exceptions – the NBA has not placed Finals logos on the court since the 2014 Finals.
Some fans clamored to see a court that matched the magnitude of the event – meaning they didn’t want to see a court that was no different than a regular-season game. It was pointed out that the league’s NBA Cup court has logos on it for the in-season tournament.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver took note of the comments and explained.
USA TODAY Sports’s Jeff Zillgitt breaks down why the logo is absent from the court this series.

Pacers vs. Thunder live updates: 2025 NBA Finals Game 2 start time, picks and predictions
Chet Holmgren was upset with his finishing in Game 1. He said he felt a little sped up against the smaller Pacers on a few of his interior attempts. The Pacers play a five-out style that tests the Thunder in different ways than previous opponents. But that did limit Holmgen and Isaiah Hartenstein to a combined 41 minutes in the game. Perhaps Daigneault will try the double-big look as he adjusts in Game 2.
“Obviously it hurts in a one-point loss,” he said. “One single difference on one single play could’ve changed the game.”
Holmgren went 2-of-9 shooting in maybe his least impactful playoff game the last month.
But there was another surprising stat: 24 minutes. Holmgren only played half the game, sitting out the final few minutes of the collapse because the Thunder opted to go without a center and never seeing the floor with Isaiah Hartenstein because Mark Daigneault opted to avoid double-big looks.
That’s a light amount of court time for who many consider the Thunder’s second- or third-best player.
“Us as players, it’s our responsibility to be able to execute no matter what coaches ask us to do,” Holmgren said. “In Game 1, that was to play more single big.”
Holmgren and Hartenstein started most of these playoffs together. That pairing has been average, outputting as a cumulative plus-6 in their 201 minutes together.
The speedy Pacers play a five-out style that tests the Thunder in different ways than previous opponents. Daigneault said he wanted an extra perimeter defender on the floor, so he started Cason Wallace. But that did limit Holmgren and Hartenstein to a combined 41 minutes. Perhaps Daigneault will try the double-big look as he adjusts in Game 2.
“It has trade-offs, like anything else,” Holmgren said. “They’re a team that plays with pace, so you have to match that in both directions. They’re a team that moves the ball, plays off the catch well. It really doesn’t change whether we are double big or single big, what we have to execute stays the same.”
Severe storms threaten Thunder-Pacers NBA Finals Game 2 tonight: Could it be delayed?
The Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Indiana Pacers in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday. Severe storms are likely Sunday afternoon and evening. Large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes are possible. FEMA recommends going to the innermost room, hallway, or closet on the lowest level of the building during a storm. If the storm continues after the final whistle blows and remains severe enough, the Paycom Center is likely to hold guests in longer to ensure they stay as safe as possible, following a shelter-in-place protocol. The National Weather Service has issued warnings only in southwestern Oklahoma, but conditions can always worsen quickly. The Oklahoma City metro is only at an “enhanced risk” of seeing severe weather on Sunday night.
Current projections from the National Weather Service forecast severe storms to start after 4 p.m. at the earliest and continue until 11 p.m. at the latest over Oklahoma City.
These storms are predicted to create wind gusts up to 80 mph and up to baseball-sized hail near OKC. More risky severe weather is expected in southwestern Oklahoma, but conditions can always worsen quickly.

Here is what to know about severe weather chances in Oklahoma City going into Game 2 on Sunday.
What is the weather in Oklahoma City tonight?
According to forecasts from the NWS Norman station, the Oklahoma City metro could see rain starting between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Severe weather should end by 11 p.m. in the metro, but severe weather watches, if issued, could be extended.
The southeast winds could have gusts higher than 80 mph throughout the metro, even though there is low potential for a tornado.
The metro area is only at an “enhanced risk” of seeing severe weather on Sunday night. Yet, these forecasts include hail up to a softball size.
Severe storms are likely Sunday afternoon and evening. Large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes are possible.
As of 4 p.m., the NWS has issued warnings only in southwestern Oklahoma.
What to do at Paycom Center during severe weather
According to FEMA guidelines, the best places to be during a storm are a storm shelter or a basement.

If you are unable to reach a shelter or a basement, FEMA recommends going to the innermost room, hallway, or closet on the lowest level of the building.
According to Lucy Albers, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Paycom, the facility is prepared to accommodate for any severe weather conditions.
For starters, she noted that the facility typically doesn’t allow umbrellas, but due to the weather, they will make an exception and allow guests to bring them in.
Because of the gambit of weather events Oklahoma can be presented, Albers also said they have to be prepared for everything.
“We’re a large sporting event facility in Oklahoma, so this is not the first time we’ve had events in some severe weather,” Albers said.

Leading up to events, Albers noted that leadership has discussions with the staff regarding safety protocols. During the event, the security manager is in direct contact with individuals at the NWS and staying up to date on all possibilities.
Should the storm continue after the final whistle blows and remain severe enough, Albers said the Paycom Center is likely to hold guests in longer to ensure they stay as safe as possible, following a shelter-in-place protocol.
Could NBA Finals Game 2 be delayed by severe weather in OKC?
Both officials with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Albers stated that should the weather become severe enough, the NBA holds the ability to make a call regarding gameplay; however, it would be communicated effectively to all parties involved.

Thunder vs. Pacers Game 2 prediction, odds, best bets for NBA Finals: Why OKC is primed to bounce back
The Indiana Pacers lead the Oklahoma City Thunder 1-0 in the NBA Finals. The Thunder won a league-best 68 games in the regular season. Oklahoma City is heavily favored at FanDuel to win Game 2 at home (-600) and take the series (-300) The Thunder have a +220 point differential in 10 home games this postseason. The Pacers are the underdogs for their third consecutive series.. Isaiah Hartenstein had nine rebounds in 17 minutes in Game 1. He’s probably going to be in line for more minutes even if he remains on the bench in Game 2. He was removed from the Game 1 starting lineup. His line is significantly lower, and that’s a function of playing time. The pick: Hartenstein over 6.5 rebounds in Game2.
Despite Indiana’s Game 1 win, OKC is still heavily favored at FanDuel to win Game 2 at home (-600) and take the series (-300).
Powered by NBA MVP Shai GIlgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City won a league-best 68 games in the regular season. They’re 12-5 so far in these playoffs, and, after needing seven games to get past the Denver Nuggets in the second round, dispatched the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games to win the West finals.
The Pacers, led by Tyrese Haliburton, are the underdogs for their third consecutive series. Indiana knocked out the No. 1 seeded Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round and then took out the Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals.

Thunder vs. Pacers: Game 2 best bets
The Oklahoma City Thunder have lost consecutive games only twice this season. Once came in April when they’d already run away with the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. The other came in November during the brief period in which Isaiah Hartenstein and Chet Holmgren were both injured. When they lost Game 1 of the Denver series at home, they won Game 2 by 43 points. The Thunder have a +220 point differential in 10 home games this postseason. Every indicator is telling us to expect a Thunder blowout in Game 2, so that’s what we’ll take. The pick: Thunder -11
There was a lot of talk after Game 1 about how the Thunder failed to turn their turnovers into points, but it actually makes quite a bit of sense on paper. The Pacers allowed the second-fewest fast-break points in the NBA this season. They are fast and they don’t overcommit to offensive-rebounding, so their defense off of turnovers is almost as good as it gets. But the team that allowed the fewest fast-break points this season? The Thunder, who are even faster and deeper than the Pacers. If the easy stuff in transition is gone, you’re basically betting on outlier shooting to hit the over. The Pacers got outlier shooting in Game 1, making 18-of-39 3-pointers, and this was still comfortably an under. Game 2 should be as well. The pick: Under 228.5
Isaiah Hartenstein had nine rebounds in 17 minutes in Game 1. His line is significantly lower, and that’s a function of playing time. He was removed from the Game 1 starting lineup. But considering the way Game 1 went, he’s probably going to be in line for more minutes even if he remains on the bench in Game 2. Those easy points off of turnovers that the Thunder live off of might not be available, so they might need to emphasize rebounding more to maintain their dominance in the possession game. They got around 53% of available rebounds in Game 1 during Hartenstein’s minutes, but only around 39% when he was off of the floor. I’m expecting more Hartenstein in Game 2, so I’m going over on his rebounds. The pick: Hartenstein over 6.5 rebounds
