“I feel like it’s very exciting. I can finally know what I want to be when I get out of high school. I also want to know more about my black culture, so I feel like going to an HBCU can really open me up to that,” Alisyn Bonney said.
“I’ve been thinking about going to Tuskegee University for a minute now. I’ve never been on their campus, so I’m excited for this opportunity to tour the campus,” Savannah Johnson said.
At the end of the day, they will hopefully learn all about the academic programs and extracurricular activities available to them.
“A lot of them have never been on a college campus. Let alone, outside of Mobile, Alabama. So, also seeing outside of Mobile,” Assistant Team Mentor Coordinator, Macaiah Beck said.
“This is a great opportunity for them to get the exposure and ask questions. It’s very important,” Team Mentor Coordinator, Phelon Carter said.
And it’s an opportunity that they’re grateful for.
“I’m visiting Mobile and I’m glad that she gave me this opportunity to have this college tour because back in my small town, we don’t have these opportunities,” Johnson said.

Rosanna started her career at WSFA 12 News in September 2011, working behind the scenes as a photographer and news content specialist. She returned to WSFA in late 2021 to co-anchor WSFA 12 News First At Four. She is excited to continue covering issues that concern residents in and around the River Region.
Rosanna was recognized by the WSFA staff when she earned the 2012 “Team Spirit Achievement” award for her fun-loving personality, likability in the newsroom and dedication. In 2018 she was honored in numerous categories, including Best Reporter and Best Specialized Reporter, by the Associated Press.
