For the first time in nine years, the U.S. Open returns to Oakmont Country Club. Bryson DeChambeau, last year’s U.S. Open winner, will try to become the first back-to-back winner of the event since Brooks Koepka accomplished the feat in 2017 and 2018. This will be the third time that Oakmont will play host to the event, and the U.S. Open 2025 begins on Thursday with Round 1. Scottie Scheffler enters as the +280 favorite (risk $100 to win $280) in the 2025 U.S. Open odds, followed by DeChambeau (+700), Rory McIlroy (+1100) and Jon Rahm (+1200). Koepka is a +5000 (50-1) long shot. Who should you consider when you place your 2025 U.S. Open betting picks? Before locking in your 2025 U.S. Open picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up nearly $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 15 majors entering the weekend, including the 2025 Masters – its fourth Masters in a row – and the 2025 PGA Championship. Anyone who has followed its sports betting picks could have seen massive returns on betting sites and for anyone taking advantage of the latest FanDuel promo code, DraftKings promo code and Fanatics Sportsbook promo code.

Now that the 2025 U.S. Open field is taking shape, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

2025 U.S. Open predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2025 U.S. Open: Rory McIlroy, a past U.S. Open champion and the third-favorite at +1100, stumbles and falls all the way out of the top five. Since winning the 2025 Masters, which completed his career grand slam, he has struggled of late. He missed the cut at the Zurich Classic on April 23.

At the Truist Championship on May 7, he finished tied for seventh. He followed that up with a 47th-place at the PGA Championship. Last week at the RBC Canadian Open, he missed the cut after posting a 71 and 78 for a nine-over-par 149. Despite all of his past successes, the model sees better value elsewhere. See who else to fade here.

Another surprise: Justin Thomas, a 40-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Thomas has been playing well in 2025, securing one win and six top-10 finishes across 13 starts. He finished on top of the leaderboard at the RBC Heritage, his first victory since the 2022 PGA Championship.

Thomas has been able to secure those positive results thanks in large part to his consistent putting stroke. The two-time major champion enters Oakmont ranked first in putting average (1.658), third in putts per round (27.72) and sixth in one-putt percentage (45.00%). Breaking par at a tough course like Oakmont will be a challenge for many golfers, but Thomas’ game seems well-suited for success at the U.S. Open. See who else to pick here.

How to make 2025 U.S. Open picks

The model is also targeting four other golfers with odds of 25-1 or longer who will make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model’s picks here.
