Shopping for a new pant suit isn’t always easy but I’m hoping this edit will get you excited to try something new.

If you’re not a dress girly or find jumpsuits a little restrictive, a trouser suit is your new BFF. Trust me, I’m obsessed with them and they’re honestly the best outfit to wear, whatever the invite says. I’ve been loving trouser suits for years and know a thing or two about what makes a good one, and I’ve searched the web for the best trouser suits for women. I’m going to confess something – I’m addicted to two-piece trouser suits. Honestly, it’s bordering on ridiculous. I don’t know what it is, but when I wear a suit I just feel like I have my life together. I feel like a confident girl boss. I feel like I can do anything. I also love that I don’t have to think too much about an outfit as a whole, and you can mix and match the separates.

It’s not just me who loves a power suit. Celebrities and influencers, and royals love to dress in a two-piece. How to style a trouser suit

You have three ways you can wear a suit. Casual for daytime (see Hailey Bieber for inspiration – or look to Trinny Woodall on Instagram), smart and elegant like Victoria Beckham, or as evening formalwear à la Margot Robbie. As a side note: My obsession with suits wouldn’t be a thing if I had to wear them for work – I can totally understand if you want to opt out of this trend because you feel like it’s ‘boring workwear’. However, you could try a more relaxed approach to a trouser suit, or choose a colour you wouldn’t dare wear in the boardroom.

I personally think trouser suits look great with T-shirts and white fashion trainers, I also love them glammed up with sexy stilettos and a chic clutch bag. I would steer clear of cross-body bags, as the chain or strap across the body might ruin the shape of the jacket. Jewellery-wise, it’s totally up to you. I love a pair of statement earrings with mine if I’m wearing for an evening, but if it’s daytime, I usually stick to gold chunky hoop earrings.

Definitely. If you’re wearing a trouser suit to a wedding, obviously don’t opt for white (unless you’re the bride!) and go for bright or jewel-toned colours instead. Or even a printed suit for extra impact.

What shoes to wear with a trouser suit?

For a special occasion, I like teaming a trouser suit with a sexy stiletto or a strappy sandal or a mid-heel sandal (comfort is key!). A seamstress once told me that if you’re wearing wide-leg trousers, the hem should fall halfway down the heel. Also, don’t underestimate the fashion trainer – I love wearing my suits in the day or out to dinner with a pair of Veja trainers and a simple white tee. Flat shoes can be tricky, but ideally you would see some skin – you don’t want to look like the trousers are wearing you.

On August 20, 2022, fashion as we know it changed forever. That day, Kendall Jenner left her house wearing sheer tights and a pair of panties, a sartorial decision that would single-handedly shift the cultural zeitgeist. Though her outfit was initially met with contempt, in that moment, Jenner inspired a cheeky trend that would go on to haunt runways and red carpets alike for years to come.

The months following Jenner’s first no-pants foray were bountiful, to be sure. Celebrities largely swore off trousers, choosing to take their public appearances in undergarments alone. Still recovering from a COVID-era slump, fashion embraced the change with gusto, and hemlines have continued to diminish ever since.

More than two years later, the pantsless trend is mostly past—but if you listen closely, whispers can still be heard within the siren call of micro shorts. Fashion has evolved, the butt-baring cut has proven more difficult to shake, inspiring shorter shorts than we’ve seen in years to take hold of the Spring/Summer 2025 season.

Micro shorts—or hot pants, as they were previously known—encompass the shortest possible manifestations of short-shorts fashion has to offer. Supplying barely more coverage than your average bikini brief, the only thing that differentiates the two is the cloth they’re cut from (denim, leather, crepe, etc.) and perhaps an inch of additional fabric.

Given their daring design, the short style is surprisingly easy to wear. Simply pair them with the blouse of your choice (pretty much anyone will do)—give or take a duster coat and a pair of tights—and you’ve got yourself a look. The only place you might hit a snag is in the shoe department, but thankfully, I can help you there. Ahead, read up on which shoes to wear with micro shorts—and everything in between.

With Peep-Toe Mules

It goes without saying that deploying a pair of micro shorts is the quickest way to show off a bit of bare leg. Throw a pair of heeled mules into the mix and you’ll only increase that energy. With a towering heel and a strap-free design, these shoes will make your legs appear miles long (if that’s what you’re going for). If you still find yourself craving more length, reach for an open-toe style to add even more visible skin.

With Loafers

While I haven’t personally partaken in the micro shorts trend (I’m more of a baggy Bermuda type of girl), if I did, it would most certainly be with a pair of chunky, androgynous loafers. And anyone looking to avoid exposed-skin overkill should follow my lead. Flat shoes, like these, shorten the appearance of your legs (as opposed to lengthening high heels), thus making their micro-mini hemline feel less drastic. If you’re still looking for additional coverage, throw on your best crew socks, just to be safe.

With Your Tallest Boots

Because of their microscopic quality, short-shorts provide wearers with an unprecedented amount of footwear flexibility. They go great with pumps and loafers, of course, but they also look surprisingly chic with knee-high—and even over-the-knee—boots. Use all that extra legroom as a canvas for your favorite statement boots, while still showing plenty of skin.

Ankle-strap pumps are one of the most difficult shoe styles to pull off—and you can quote me on that. Their built-in straps cut off the leg at an awkward point, which renders the most commonplace hemlines totally off-limits. You can’t always wear them with a standard mini-skirt, but you can safely pair an ankle strap with a pair of short shorts. Their leggy nature provides enough visible skin to balance out any cumbersome proportions caused by the ankle-accentuating shoe style.

This ‘vibe shift’ — another phrase he coined, along with ‘normcore’ — echoes the late 1980s attitude of excess. Although it had a rocky start, the annual Coachella festival was in full swing over the weekend.

The 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival kicked off on April 11 to 13, and the second performance weekend was April 18 to 20. The headliners included Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, and Travis Scott. Stars like Charli XCX and Megan Thee Stallion were also on the lineup.

A-listers took to the stage in Indio, California, while other celebrities gathered to watch them perform.
