‘3 suspects detained from Indore’: Addl. DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya on Indore Couple Case

Indore, Addl. DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya said that three suspects, Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan and Akash Rajput, were detained from Indore and a nearby area. The Police are questioning them at an undisclosed location.
Speaking to ANI, Addl. DCP (Crime) said, “In this case, DGP Madhya Pradesh was in touch with DGP Meghalaya. As the search operation intensified, we got information from the Shillong Police that Sonam Raghuvanshi had been recovered in Ghazipur. Based on technical inputs, three suspects – Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan and Akash Rajput- were detained from Indore and a nearby area. The Police are questioning them at an undisclosed location. The name of another suspect, Anand, has come to light. Shillong Police is holding an investigation.”
Talking about the chronology of the case, Addl. DCP Dandotiya said that the couple had their last conversation with the family on May 23, and Raja Raghuvanshi’s body was recovered and identified on June 2.
“On 11th May, Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi got married, and on 20th May, they went on a vacation. They reached Shillong via Guwahati. After reaching Shillong, they were constantly in contact with their family. On 23rd May, the couple had their last conversation with their family. After this, the family contacted Indore Police, which was in touch with the SP East Saura district and the couple’s relatives. On 2nd June, Raja Raghuvanshi’s body was recovered and identified. After the recovery of the body, a case of murder was registered,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ravanshu Pandey, Rajadi Police Chowki Incharge, Ghazipur, along with other police officials, visited Kashi Dhaba, where Uttar Pradesh Police found Sonam Raghuvanshi late last night.
He told the media, “Meghalaya Police is also reaching here. Sonam Raghuvanshi is at the One Stop Centre in Ghazipur. Her medical examination has also been performed.” (ANI)

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma confirmed the breakthrough in Raja Raghuvanshi murder case and lauded the efforts of the state police. He stated that three assailants have been arrested and operations are still ongoing to apprehend one remaining assailant. Meghalaya DGP Idashisha Nongrang stated that Sonam was allegedly involved in her husband Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder during honeymoon and had hired killers.

According to Raja’s brother, Vipul Raghuvanshi, he was informed about Sonam’s location around 2 am by her brother, Govind. Following, this they informed Uttar Pradesh police, who took her into custody.
Vipul told ANI, “I spoke to Govind around 2 AM. He informed me that Sonam was found in Uttar Pradesh. After we contacted UP Police, Sonam was taken by the police. She did not surrender. We will not agree that Sonam is the accused until and unless she confesses to this.”

Raja Raghuvanshi’s brother, Vipul Raghuvanshi, made a significant revelation about Raj Kushwaha, suggesting Sonam’s involvement in the murder. Vipul stated that he was initially unaware of the names of those who were arrested, but once Raj’s name surfaced, he identified him. The Indore couple were on their honeymoon in Shillong when they went missing in East Khasi Hills on May 23. Husband Raja’s body was found in the jungles; however, wife Sonam couldn’t be traced. Sonam was finally found in Ghazipur on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Three people accused in Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder case have been detained, Meghalaya police released a press note on Friday afternoon.
Raj Kushwaha, said to be boyfriend of Raja Raghuvanshi’s wife Sonam, is among the detained.
“Following sustained investigative efforts and multi-state coordination, three individuals have been apprehended in connection with this case, two from Indore (Madhya Pradesh) and one from Lalitpur (Uttar Pradesh). These arrests mark a decisive development in unravelling the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Raja Raghuvanshi and the subsequent disappearance of his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi,” the police statement read.
Indore Additional DCP (Crime Branch) Rajesh Dandotiya, too, confirmed the trio were detained during a press briefing.
He revealed that three suspects have been detained in a joint operation led by Indore and Meghalaya police. The suspects are identified as Raj Kushwaha, Vishal Chauhan, and Akash Rajput, two of them hail from Nandbagh, Indore while other is a resident of Lalitpur (UP). Search for one more accused is underway.

After being ‘missing’ for 17 days, Sonam was finally found in Ghazipur on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
Uttar Pradesh ADG Amitabh Yash revealed Sonam contacted her brother at 2am and informed him that she was at Kashi Dhaba on the Banaras-Ghazipur main road.
The ADG said that the cops recovered her from the dhaba and took her to a hospital for medical examination. She was then sent to a one-stop centre. From here, she will be sent to Shillong, and the entire investigation will be done by Meghalaya police.
ADG Yash confirmed that the case will be officially handed over to the Meghalaya Police with all formal documentation once they reach Ghazipur. Meghalaya Police were already in Indore to investigate the matter.
MD drugs valued at Rs 54L seized in Indore, two arrested
Two men, including a key supplier from Ratlam, were arrested on Thursday and MD drugs valued at Rs 54 lakh was seized from them. During preliminary interrogation, both admitted to being addicts and their intent to bring MD drugs into the city and sell them at higher prices. Gani Patel, who claims to have studied up to class 11 and worked in the bottled water business, is a habitual offender and was previously wanted in a drug trafficking case.
Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said that acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch team reached the location behind the rickshaw stand near ESIC Hospital at Marimata Square, where they spotted two individuals matching the description.

Upon seeing the police, the suspects appeared nervous, prompting the officers to question them. During preliminary interrogation, both admitted to being addicts and their intent to bring MD drugs into the city and sell them at higher prices.
The team arrested two persons — Gani Patel, 31, a resident of Khajrana and Mohsin Mew, 31, from Jaora in Ratlam — and recovered 54.78 grams of MD drugs from their possession, valued at approximately Rs 54 lakh in the international market.
A case was registered at Crime Branch Police Station under section 8/22 of the NDPS Act. Further legal proceedings are underway.
Gani Patel, who claims to have studied up to class 11 and worked in the bottled water business, is a habitual offender and was previously wanted in a drug trafficking case involving 17.17 grams of MD drugs. He is also known to be an associate of Arbaaz, an accused already arrested in the same case. The second accused, Mohsin Mew, who claims to have studied up to class 10 and previously worked in welding, admitted to being a repeat offender with two prior NDPS cases for drug smuggling in Nagpur (Maharashtra) and Jaora in Ratlam, for which he served jail time.
