TSA launches ‘Serve with Honor, Travel with Ease’ to support military families
TSA has established front-of-the-line access or dedicated military lanes at 10 major airports with large military populations. Military spouses are now eligible for a $25 discount on TSA PreCheck enrollment. Families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty will receive complimentary PreCheck membership, with the agency working proactively to notify eligible households. The campaign aligns with broader efforts by TSA to modernize and streamline security screening. This week, the agency also announced an end to its long-standing “shoes-off” policy for certain travelers, marking another step toward enhancing the airport experience for eligible individuals to visit TSA.gov for more information about the program and enrollment details. It’s a small but important step we can do to both support them, but also ease the burden of travel, for these individuals, who do so much for us in this country,” said a senior TSA official.

The Transportation Security Administration has unveiled a new initiative designed to honor America’s military service members and their families, while easing their travel experience at airports nationwide. The campaign, titled “Serve with Honor, Travel with Ease,” was announced earlier this month and introduces several travel benefits for active duty military, military spouses, and Gold Star families.”This administration believes it’s the right thing to do,” said Adam Stahl, a senior TSA official. “It’s a small but important step we can do to both support them, but also ease the burden of travel, for these individuals, who do so much for us in this country.” The initiative includes three primary benefits:Dedicated Military Lanes: TSA has established front-of-the-line access or dedicated military lanes at 10 major airports with large military populations. This feature aims to reduce wait times for military travelers at busy checkpoints.PreCheck Discounts: Military spouses are now eligible for a $25 discount on TSA PreCheck enrollment, acknowledging the “significant sacrifices” they make.Free PreCheck for Gold Star Families: Families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty will receive complimentary TSA PreCheck membership, with the agency working proactively to notify eligible households.Stahl emphasized the timing of the program’s launch, which coincided with the Fourth of July holiday. “We were on the heels last week, of the 4th of July, this country’s independence. And we’re continuing to honor those who serve us,” he said. “This is a small, but important step we can take to salute those individuals, and to really thank them and ease the burden of travel again for them and their families.”The TSA PreCheck program has long been touted for its ability to streamline airport security by allowing travelers to keep shoes, jackets, and belts on, and significantly reduce wait times. “Wait times are significantly shorter, approximately by average, half the wait time,” Stahl said, adding, “I would encourage individuals, military affiliated or not, to please go out and enroll in PreCheck today.”The announcement has been met with an “overwhelmingly positive” response, according to TSA. “People, the nation at large, appreciate the services and salutes the service and sacrifices that these individuals and their families make on a day-to-day basis,” Stahl said. The campaign aligns with broader efforts by TSA to modernize and streamline security screening.
