How Air India plane crashed in Ahmedabad: Final moments of AI171
Fuel control switches “transitioned” three seconds after Air India’s Boeing 787-8 aircraft became airborne. A loss of engine thrust and shutting down of both the engines precipitated an air crash on June 12 in Ahmedabad. At least 260 people, including 19 on ground, were killed in the crash. The fuel cutoff switches of both engines “ transitioned from RUN to CUTOFF position one after another with a time gap of 01 sec,” said the report submitted by Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.
