In a public statement, the Ferruzzo family expressed both heartbreak and gratitude.
“We are incredibly grateful to all the search and rescue professionals and volunteers who have remained steadfast in their efforts to locate the victims of this tragedy,” the statement read. “We would especially like to thank the Texas Rangers.”
Katherine Ferruzzo, a recent graduate of Memorial High School in Houston, was set to attend The University of Texas at Austin this fall. She planned to pursue a career as a Special Education teacher, a path inspired by her compassion for individuals with special needs and learning differences.
In her honor, the family is launching the Katherine Ferruzzo Legacy Foundation, which will support causes aligned with her values and compassion for those with special needs.
