HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A spokesperson with HEMSI said that a woman was stabbed Sunday afternoon.

At about 2:30 p.m., the Huntsville Police Department said officers responded to a possible shooting in the 2200 block of Sparkman Drive.

However, when they arrived, they said they found no evidence of a shooting, though they did find a woman who had been injured after being assaulted with a knife.

According to HEMSI spokesperson Don Webster, the woman is in stable condition and was taken to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Services.

HPD said a Violent Crimes Unit investigator has been called to the scene to lead the investigation.
