AVON, Ohio — The Avon Planning Commission’s monthly meetings have been busy of late, featuring presentations from developers and business owners seeking to come to town.
At last week’s meeting (July 16), commission members heard a presentation from DSC Architects, on behalf of Premier 1500 Nagel LLC, requesting a positive recommendation to City Council for approval of a special use permit for an indoor electric go-cart and amusement center at 1500 Nagel Road.
The center would sit across from Nagel Crossings near the Cleveland Clinic.
K1 Speed, with locations in Canton and Columbus, is an indoor go-kart track experience that will also be available to host kids’ and adult parties.

And get ready for more coffee as JAVA Ventures V LLC, on behalf of Biggby Coffee, has requested a positive recommendation to City Council for approval of a special use permit for a coffee shop with indoor seating and drive-thru service at 36500 Detroit Road.
This is in the former Commstar Credit Union space.
Other new businesses coming to town include Nelly Belly, as previously reported in the Short Takes column on cleveland.com.
The restaurant will take over the space formerly occupied by Railroad Brewing Company at 1010 Center Road.
Bliss Home Market will be opening at 1010 Jaycox Road. The franchise originated in Columbus and also includes a Cincinnati location.
It is a once-a-month warehouse sale featuring high-end furniture and home decor that customers can shop for and take home that day.
The new Avon location will have 6,000 square feet of space offering accent chairs, sofas, rugs, tables, art, lamps and everyday seasonal decor.
The shop will also carry private-label upholstery exclusive to Bliss Home Market.
The first weekend sale will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 23 and noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 24.
There will also be a “Friday After Sale” each month to accommodate shoppers who can’t make it over the weekend.

The new dining space offers a full sports bar with more that 30 televisions, Cameo’s pizza, hand-pressed burgers, hand-breaded chicken wings and chunks, and other sandwiches.
Daily specials and a happy hour menu are also available.
The sports bar also offers Keno and sports betting.
Cameo Express will offer quick and healthy options, including soft drinks and smoothies, breakfast sandwiches and fresh meals on-the-go.
Longtime residents may remember when Cameo Pizza had a location in Avon Commons. The chain is a family-owned business originating in Sandusky.
The restaurant is open from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 to 9 p.m. Sundays.

Located within the same plaza on Chester Road as In Forno, the Wine Room is also under new ownership and will celebrate its grand reopening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:15 p.m. Aug. 1.
The space has been completely remodeled and will offer a host of new menu offerings. The owners will also unveil a new name and logo during the grand opening.
Other businesses planning to open soon include Topgolf (tentatively in mid-September) on Chester Road and Las Margaritas (tentatively sometime in August pending inspections) in the former ZZ’s Big Top space on Detroit Road.
