Travel continues after hectic weekend at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport
technical issues halted operations for Alaska Airlines. Travel has returned to normal at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. A representative with ANC told Alaska’s News Source that the airport will remain open and operating normally. While the IT error only affected Alaska and Horizon Airlines flights, effects were felt across the board for people traveling into Anchorage.
Jerry Brewer, flying to ANC from San Francisco, told Alaska’s News Source that his flight was delayed for around 20 minutes.
“There was some gate confusion… but we got in OK,” he recalled.
Other travelers, such as Christian Haich, had delays that lasted hours.
“We landed in Seattle on time and sat on the tarmac for three hours, and then whenever I was actually allowed to deplane, my connecting flight had already taken off,” said Haitch.
“My options were to book my own hotel because all of the hotels had already been booked or spend the night in the airport and wait for my flight the next day.
“So, I spent the night on the floor of the Seattle airport.”
In the hours since operations resumed, flights have begun to arrive on time once more.
A representative with ANC told Alaska’s News Source that the airport, as well as Fairbanks International Airport, will remain open and operating normally.
