Jasmin Hundal, Chair of Hematology-Oncology Research Fellowship Working Group at Cleveland Clinic, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper she co-authored with colleagues published in the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine:

“Proud to share our recent publication: Implementing Lifestyle Medicine in Cancer Survivorship: A Narrative Review of Global Models.

As cancer survivorship continues to grow, so does the need for comprehensive, evidence-based care that addresses not just recurrence prevention but also the long-term health of survivors. Our narrative review explores how Lifestyle Medicine, including nutrition, exercise, stress management, sleep, social support, and risk reduction, can be integrated into oncology care.

We examined global implementation models across hospital and community settings:

Mass General Cancer Center’s Lifestyle Medicine Clinic

Clinical Oncology Society of Australia’s Exercise Framework

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Oncology Lifestyle Program

Kansas City’s Cancer Wellness for Life initiative

From multidisciplinary hospital-based programs to community-driven approaches, structured lifestyle interventions are associated with better treatment tolerance, quality of life, and cardiometabolic health. Yet, barriers remain, from clinician training to access disparities.

The opportunity is clear: integrating Lifestyle Medicine into routine cancer care can transform survivorship. I am grateful to have collaborated with an inspiring team of thought leaders and change-makers in this space.”
