organization serving Bossier Parish for 40 years, is excited to announce $2,000 in grant
funding from the American Electric Power Foundation to support an environmental
education mobile classroom pilot with Bossier Schools.
Grant funding will support mobile environmental education for 4 th- 5 th graders in Bossier
Parish. Using a traveling classroom, teachers will provide 45-minute instruction from
Keep Louisiana Beautiful to three classes of thirty students each. Students will learn
about environmental stewardship, litter and recycling through activities that encourage
reflection, problem-solving and creativity. Hands-on activities following each lesson are
simple to implement and allow children to engage, explore, and dig deeper into the
topics.
“Tackling litter and protecting our environment requires not only immediate action, but
awareness and education of future generations of our parish’s citizens and leaders,”
said Executive Director Lynn Bryan.
Keep Bossier Beautiful has already made a significant investment toward launching this
project, securing a new 22′ enclosed trailer, along with tables, chairs, canopies and
curriculum that will serve as the foundation for this program. By combining proven
curriculum with hands-on studies in a fun, mobile classroom setting, KBB will engage
children in lessons that will help instill a lifelong love for the environment and desire to
protect it.
“We appreciate American Electric Power Foundation for its commitment to supporting
education and awareness of future generations that will lead to improved quality of life
in the communities where AEP serves and its employees live and work,” added Bryan.
