Helena Senators HOF to induct seven former Senators after a six year hiatus
Seven former members of the Montana Senators will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. The inductees include five players who played for the Senators in the 1970s and 1980s. One of the inductees is the only player to hit 21 home runs in a season.
Paul Hopkins, Vic Kelley, Chris Keim, Jeff Tuss, Tanney Swanby, Quinn LeSage and Colter Sternhagen are all the inductees.
Hopkins played from 1967-70 and helped lead the Senators to the State A Championship in 1968. Kelley played in 1971-73 and went 11-1 on the mound for the team in 1972.
Keim was around in 1985-87 and was the Montana Legion Baseball Player of the Year and went to play two years of minor league baseball. Tuss played both minor league baseball and football for Montana State, the only Senator to ever do that.
Swanby played for four years in 2001-03 and won three state titles while leaving the program with the career wins record (35). Lesage is the only Senators player to pitch 10 wins and bat .400 in the same year.
Sternhagen hit 21 home runs in 2011, which is the most all time for the Senators and in Montana AA Legion Baseball.
