That doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of buzz around the possible celebrity sightings each day of the convention. San Diegans may see them throughout the city — and surprises are always expected. Some celebrities in particular were expected for events and panels for various TV, film, graphic novels, animation and other projects.

Thursday, Dan Aykroyd, Peter Dinklage and Anthony Mackie were among the big names to watch for. Many of the ones who did pay a visit posed for portraits.

Walker Scobell and the cast of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’

The first Hall H panel of the weekend featured the cast of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.”

Elijah Wood, Taylour Paige, Jacob Tremblay

“The Toxic Avenger,” which hits theaters on Aug. 29, was the center of a panel in Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Cast members Elijah Wood, Taylour Paige and Jacob Tremblay posed for a portrait ahead of their panel.

Anthony Mackie

Anthony Mackie posed for a portrait before a panel promoting “Twisted Metal” in Ballroom 20. In addition to starring in the series for Peacock, he is also known for “Captain America: Brave New World” and other Marvel films.

Stephanie Beatriz

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Encanto” star Stephanie Beatriz joined the actors posing for portraits before a panel for Peacock’s “Twisted Metal.”

Peter Dinklage

“Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage visited Comic-Con to talk about the upcoming film, “The Toxic Avenger.” The panel also featured Elijah Wood and Jacob Tremblay, among other actors.

Raymond Cruz

Raymond Cruz, known for “Breaking Bad” and “The Closer” attended Comic-Con to sign autographs and promote “”Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires.”

Gabriel ‘Fluffy’ Iglesias and Jo Koy

Gabriel ‘Fluffy’ Iglesias and Jo Koy paired up as a duo for a rare comedy panel at Comic-Con.

Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin met up with Snoopy as the “Peanuts” franchise celebrated 75 years with various activities at Comic-Con.

David Dastmalchian

The actor from “The Suicide Squad,” “Oppenheimer” and “Dune: Part One” attended Comic-Con to talk about “Dexter: Resurrection.” His weekend at Comic-Con will feature multiple appearances, including at the Eisner Awards and on his own panel: Going Through with David Dastmalchian.

Dan Aykroyd

Dan Aykroyd was on a panel celebrating the 45th anniversary of “The Blues Brothers” and an upcoming graphic novel about the brothers. He was joined by his daughter and Luke Pisano, son of Judy Belushi.

Hallmark Media joined the Comic-Con fun with a panel called “Hallmark Hallstars.” Chyler Leigh, “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Supergirl” actor, was among the featured stars.

Josh Hutcherson

“Hunger Games” and “The Beekeeper” actor Josh Hutcherson was a part of a lineup of actors who spoke about “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” at Comic-Con.

Paul Feig and Rob Reiner

Paul Feig and Rob Reiner participated in a special panel about directing. Among other famous titles, Reiner directed “Stand by Me” and “When Harry Met Sally” and Paul Feig directed “Bridesmaids” and “A Simple Favor.”
