WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita Eisenhower National Airport is getting more nonstop flights to Phoenix just as passenger numbers reach record levels.

Starting Nov. 2, American Airlines will add a second daily flight between Wichita and Phoenix. The added service will run Nov. 2 to Dec. 2, and again Dec. 18 to Jan. 5. Both flights will use 76-seat Embraer 175 jets.

Phoenix is a key hub for connections to the West Coast, Hawaii, and Mexico.

The new flights come as Eisenhower Airport set a record for May with 87,135 departing passengers — its highest ever for that month. Total traffic reached nearly 169,000 travelers, up nearly 3% from last year. Airlines also added more seats and flights to meet growing demand.

So far in 2025, the airport has served more than 694,000 passengers, slightly ahead of last year’s pace, airport officials said.
