Atletico MG vs Internacional Prediction and Betting Tips
Atletico Mineiro host Internacional at Arena MRV on Thursday night. Atletico are unbeaten in Serie A since the middle of April. Visitors have gone five games without success in Brasileiro. Internacial have scored one more goal (12) than their hosts in the league this season. There has not been a draw between these two teams since December 2020, a period spanning eight games. Rony has started every game and netted three times, including last time out against Ceara. Veteran forward Hulk has now failed to score in six games for Atletico. Fernando faces missing out after the 37-year-old midfielder was withdrawn after 20 minutes versus Fluminense. Thiago Maia was his replacement on that occasion and looks in line to start. Bruno Tabata, Gustavo Prado and Lucca are also in contention to return in the final third for Atleti. Romulo could be drafted into the back three if Cuca retains the same formation, while Hulk is an option in attack if he switches to a back four.
Atletico Minerio play host to Internacional on Thursday evening looking to further extend their unbeaten record in Serie A.
Avoiding defeat in Brazil’s top flight since the middle of April has ensured that Cuca’s side have managed to move into the top 10 of the standings.
In sharp contrast, the visitors to Arena MRV have gone five games without success in Brasileiro and now sit just one point above the relegation zone.
Curiously, though, Internacional have scored one more goal (12) than their hosts in the league this season, albeit in a division that has not been blessed with goals during 2025.
How the bookies see it: Atletico to be backed heavily?
Given the difference in form, it should come as no surprise that Atletico Mineiro are odds-on favourites here. That said, the 4/5 on offer from BoyleSports should be regarded as attractive betting odds when Internacional have not won any of their six away fixtures in the league.
That is reflected by the visitors being a 10/3 shot, the draw being priced at 23/10.
Head to head: Closer match-up in the history books
In the last 42 matches, it is Internacional who are edging this head-to-head with 17 victories in comparison to 16 wins for Atletico.
The Brasileiro matches in 2024 both ended in away triumphs, Internacional’s 3-1 success coming as recently as October.
Prior to that, however, Atletico had prevailed three times in succession, conceding just once goal in the process, yet you have to go back to 2021 for the last time that there were fewer than two goals in this fixture.
There has not been a draw between these two teams since December 2020, a period spanning eight games.
Players to watch: Rony the best of a limited bunch
When only one of Atletico’s players has scored more than one goal in the Brasileiro this season, they are limited on players to watch in the final third.
Rony has started every game and netted three times, including last time out against Ceara. Veteran forward Hulk was introduced at half-time, but the 38-year-old has now failed to score in six games.
Another veteran in Alan Patrick is the one to watch in Internacional’s squad. The 34-year-old has two goals and four assists from his eight starts in the league, albeit still only scoring twice from his last nine games in all competitions.
Predicted lineups: Atletico facing defensive change
With Lyanco having been sent off for the second time this season in the closing stages at Ceara, Cucu must decide how to replace the centre-back. Romulo could be drafted into the back three if Cuca retains the same formation, while Hulk is an option in attack if he switches to a back four.
Meanwhile, Fernando faces missing out for Internacional after the 37-year-old midfielder was withdrawn after 20 minutes versus Fluminense. Thiago Maia was his replacement on that occasion and looks in line to start. Bruno Tabata, Gustavo Prado and Lucca are also in contention to return in the final third.
Atletico Mineiro: Everson, Romulo, Hugo, Alonso, Natanael, Patrick, Franco, Rubens, Scarpa, Gomes, Rony
Internacional: Anthoni, Aguirre, Vitao, Juninho, Ramon, Henrique, Maia, Vitinho, Patrick, Wesley, Borre
Anything else catch the eye?
In four of Atletico’s last five matches in all competitions, there have been fewer than two goals. The exception was a 4-0 win over Maringa FC in a cup tie.
Internacional’s attacking record stands at nine strikes from their last six games, although three of those goals came in the cup against Maracana FC.
Nevertheless, given that this fixture generally produces goals, it may be worth taking a punt on that continuing on Thursday night.

São Paulo take on Corinthians in the Brasileiro Betano on July 20. The match will take place at the Toledo Pompeu grounds ahead of Matchday 15. A preview of the game, team statistics, emerging lineups, and several betting options are available below. São Paulo will miss Luciano, provider of the two assists last week. Lucas Moura is also on the sidelines, although doubted to resume. Marcos Antonio took a knock in the Bragantino game and may be replaced by Alisson. The Corinthians are eager to spring towards Botafogo’s spot and will do all they can to ensure victory, come fulltime. These are the type of games that usually erupt in emotional [anger] bursts from fans. A few changes are expected, with Charles Matheus expected to gird his lions against the Ceara lions. The game is expected to finish 0-0. The winner will go into the play-off round of the competition on August 1.
Prediction for the São Paulo – Corinthians game which will take place at the Toledo Pompeu grounds ahead of Matchday 15 in the Brasileiro Betano. King of Draws, São Paulo will attempt to stand against better-fare Corinthians in hopes of relieving themselves of relegation nightmares which await upon defeat, or a low-scoring stalemate. Fans of the Corinthians will like to see Memphis Depay, who returned to training last week after going AWOL due to a payment default [allegedly] and faced disciplinary measures from the higher-ups.
A preview of the game, team statistics, emerging lineups, and several betting options are available below.
São Paulo: Form and Statistics
Recent Form: LLLLD
Being on the lesser end of the stick in recent games, São Paulo continues to seek a U-turn from their scavenging streak as they take on a definitive game against the Corinthians. In five recent matches, they only have one point, after facing four losses in a row from a draw. As it stands, not much can be inferred from São Paulo’s mediocrity as Hernan Crespo continues to ransack his idea box for ways to pull this team from abysmal losses.
Against Bragantino, Andre Silva opened the scoring before the first ten minutes elapsed, but the teams went into halftime parallel – spawned from an equaliser two minutes before the referee’s blow for recess. The second-half saw them trail after three minutes, which looked like another loss, until Andre Silva netted again, giving himself a brace while earning a point for his team.
Their home form has not encouraged the hopeful fans who recently witnessed two consecutive losses [3-1 v Vasco Da Gama; 2-0 v Mirassol] and a narrow 2-1 win against Gremio.
São Paulo Lineup
Team: São Paulo will be seriously handicapped against Corinthians basically because they are missing many key players against Corinthians. Soberano may be cornered if Hernan Crespo fails to recognize that he is temporarily handicapped for this game despite fielding Andre Silva.
Player: São Paulo will miss Luciano, provider of the two assists last week. Lucas Moura is also on the sidelines, although doubted to resume. Marcos Antonio also took a knock in the Bragantino game and may be replaced by Alisson. All eyes will be on Andre Silva who plays without Luciano, who will be replaced with Rodriguinho
Predicted Lineup (3-4-2-1): Rafael, Franco-Arboleda-Ferraresi, Diaz- Alisson-Bobadilla-Soares, Oscar-Rodriguinho, Silva
Head Coach: Hernan Crespo
Out: Lucas Moura (doubtful), Lucas Fereirea (doubtful), Ryan Francisco (injured), Luciano (injured), Marcus Antonio (injured)
Corinthians: Form and Statistics
Recent Form: DDDLW
The Corinthians are eager to spring towards Botafogo’s spot and will do all they can to ensure victory, come fulltime. These are the type of games that usually erupt in emotional [anger] bursts from fans. Having learnt harsh lessons from the Paulista played in the 3-1 loss to Sao Paulo, they are faced with another opportunity to correct errors.
Prolific this season to be one of the most obstinate teams to play against, the Poderoso have raked three stalemates and a win from the last five league games, winning only one.
They managed a decent 1-0 winning stake against Ceara in a game that looked like a bore-draw – courtesy of Head Coach Dorival Junior’s time-attentive substitutions which inspired the goal.
The Corinthians, who are very insolent on the road [evident in three recent low-scoring unbeaten streak i.e. 1-0 v Ceara; 1-1 v Gremio; 0-0 v Atletico-MG] can be sure to give São Paulo a challenging and intense battle, despite losing 2-1 to Mirassol in May.
Corinthians: Lineup
Team: The Corinthians have an impressive set of players guarding their goal posts. Their zero tolerance for opposing gimmicks saw Ceara’s attack repeatedly stifled.
Players: A few players changes expected are: Magno will miss this game due to an injury against Ceara and may have his spot temporarily taken by Charles. Matheus Bidu, player of the match against Ceara is expected to gird his lions and turn up again if Negao continues his lousiness in front of goal.
Predicted Lineup (4-3-1-2): Souza, Bidu-Caca-Ramalho-Matheuzinho, Martinez-Raniele-Bidon, Garro, Nagao-Charles
Head Coach: Dorival Junior
Out: Nil
Preview: Sao Paulo vs Vasco da Gama
Sports Mole previews Friday’s Brasileiro clash between Sao Paulo and Vasco da Gama, including predictions, team news and possible lineups. The hosts are 13th in the standings with 12 points from 11 matches, while the visitors are two places behind the home side, having earned 10 points from the same number of matches. Sao Paulo started their 2025 Serie A campaign with four consecutive draws against Recife, Atlético Mineiro (0-0), Cruzeiro (1-1) and Botafogo (2-2) The Sovereigns claimed a 2-1 win over Santos in game week five to record their first three points of the current campaign. The Club of Faith could not build on that result, recording only one victory in their six matches, with the other results being three defeats and two draws. With 15 goals conceded in 11 fixtures, a record which is the joint-fourth worst in the league so far, Alvaro Pacheco would be worried about his defence.
Sao Paulo will clash with Vasco da Gama at MorumBIS in a gameweek 12 Brazilian Serie A encounter.
The hosts are 13th in the standings with 12 points from 11 matches, while the visitors are two places behind the home side, having earned 10 points from the same number of matches.
Match preview
Sao Paulo started their 2025 Serie A campaign with four consecutive draws against Recife (0-0), Atlético Mineiro (0-0), Cruzeiro (1-1) and Botafogo (2-2) to claim four points from a possible 12.
After enduring a month of frustrating results, the Sovereigns claimed a 2-1 win over Santos in game week five to record their first three points of the current campaign.
However, the Club of Faith could not build on that result, recording only one victory in their six matches, with the other results being three defeats and two draws.
The Tricolours of Sao Paulo have not been defensively solid so far, having conceded 11 goals in 11 fixtures of the season.
That does not come as a surprise for a side that was breached 10 times in their final six games of the previous season.
Although Vasco won their final away fixture of last season, courtesy of a 2-1 triumph over Cuiaba, they remain winless in four games on the road this term.
Nevertheless, the Giant of the Hill have won three league games in 2025, but having suffered seven losses from 11 games, they are 13th in the standings, two places ahead of the drop zone.
Ahead of this fixture, the visiting side will be looking to avoid three straight defeats in the Brazilian top flight for the second time in 2025.
With 15 goals conceded in 11 fixtures, a record which is the joint-fourth worst in the league so far, Alvaro Pacheco would be worried about his defence.
However, without a win on the road against Sunday’s opponents since July 2012, the Black Shirts have a lot to do this weekend.

Team News
Sao Paulo have been unfortunate with injuries in this campaign, with several players on the sidelines.
Forward Jonathan Calleri is battling a knee injury, which has kept him out of action since April; hence, he will not be considered for Sunday’s fixture.
Similarly, Lucas Moura (knee), Ruan Tressoldi (knee), Luis Gustavo (contusion) and Oscar (thigh) are all going to be absent for the hosts.
Meanwhile, Guilherme Estrella has been battling a knee injury since July 2024, and he is not expected to be part of the travelling squad for this encounter.
Dimitri Payet is stricken with a knee injury, and as such, he is unlikely to be named in the starting XI of the visitors.
Sao Paulo possible starting lineup:
Rafael; Soares, Arboleda, Sabino, Wendell; Bobadilla, Maia, Francisco, Ferreira, Diaz; Luciano
Vasco da Gama possible starting lineup:
Jardim; Piton, Freitas, Victor, Henrique; Tche Tche, Jair, Coutinho; Moreira, Vegetti, Rayan
We say: Sao Paulo 1-1 Vasco da Gama
Both sides have had less than ideal starts to the 2025 season, but given the fine home form of the hosts and the struggles of the visiting side on the road, a 1-1 draw appears to be the most likely outcome.

Atletico Mineiro finished the last campaign in third place, just two points above their opposition this weekend, and new boss Cuca will be looking to do even better this season.
However, it has been a mixed bag so far for Atletico, who picked up their first points of the campaign last time out after losing their opening fixture to Fortaleza.
Galo beat Sport Recife 1-0, with Hulk scoring with his side’s only shot on target.
As talented as he is, Hulk is currently the only Galo player who has found the back of the net in the league this season, and Cuca will expect more from his attackers as the season goes on.

After a solid Brasileiro campaign last season, Sao Paulo have started this season poorly, with just one point taken from their opening two games.
Currently 15th in the table, Sao Paulo were beaten 2-0 by Atletico Goianiense last weekend, meaning that Tricolor Paulista have not yet scored a goal this season.
Head coach Hernan Crespo, who made the move from Argentina’s Defensa y Justicia, will be looking for more from his side if he is to build his reputation during his stint in Brazil.
With games against Chapecoense and Santos on the horizon, Sao Paulo will need to grind out results against tough opposition in order to work their way up the table.

We say: Atletico Mineiro 1-1 Sao Paulo
This is a very difficult-to-call clash between two well-matched sides, and due to the poor form that both teams are in, we do not expect a lot from this one. We are going for a 1-1 stalemate.
