Confirmed, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 can claim world’s thinnest foldable
Galaxy Z Fold 7 is officially the world’s thinnest foldable phone. The Honor Magic V5 is the third-thinnest after the Oppo Find N5. The fourth place goes to the Vivo X Fold5. All measurements include the factory-applied screen protectors. We also have a video explaining these results. We are now convinced that Samsung can comfortably claim the title. Samsung put in a great deal of effort to achieve this, and it’s a shame that other OEMs attempted to blur the facts right before the Fold 7’s unveiling. Still, this shouldn’t take away from Samsung’s achievement and the Galaxy Z Fold7’s greatness. We have a full breakdown of the measurements, from the thinnEST phone to the thickest.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is Samsung’s thinnest foldable to date, but is it the world’s thinnest foldable phone compared to other brands? We decided to answer this question once and for all. Armed with a micrometer caliper, we measured the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and its competitors: the Honor Magic V5, the Oppo Find N5, and the Vivo X Fold5. Here is what we found.
Not only is the Galaxy Z Fold 7 the world’s thinnest foldable phone, but our findings also reveal that the Honor Magic V5 never held the crown — even before the Fold 7 became official two weeks ago.
Honor had claimed to launch the world’s thinnest foldable, but its measurements excluded both screen protectors. That trick made the Magic V5 appear slimmer than it actually is, unlike Samsung’s honest approach. Here is what the real-world measurements between all four foldable phones say. Advertisement
Galaxy Z Fold 7 is officially the thinnest: here’s proof
Our measurements confirm that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 takes the crown, while the Honor Magic V5 is the third thinnest after the Oppo Find N5. Not only did Honor try to beat Samsung to the punch before Unpacked with a claim that lacked substance, but completely overlooked the Oppo Find N5’s existence. The latter is objectively thinner.
The fourth place goes to the Vivo X Fold5. Here is our full breakdown of the measurements, from the thinnest phone to the thickest. We also have a video below explaining these results. All measurements include the factory-applied screen protectors.

We are now convinced that Samsung can comfortably claim the title of the world’s thinnest foldable phone thanks to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Samsung put in a great deal of effort to achieve this, and it’s a shame that other OEMs attempted to blur the facts right before the Fold 7’s unveiling. Still, this shouldn’t take away from Samsung’s achievement and the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s greatness.
This turn of events should also serve as a reminder: read between the lines and check the official footnotes whenever a manufacturer makes a bold claim with an asterisk at the end, as Honor did. Advertisement
