Milton praised Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott for being a great teammate, and he suggested that wasn’t the case in New England.
“Dak is a great leader,” Milton said. “All respect to him. He literally goes out of his way to help me, no matter if the coach is talking in the meeting, he literally goes out of his way to help. . . . I’ve been in another building. I know how that goes. It’s just very different over here.”
Milton didn’t mention either of the other two quarterbacks in New England last season, Drake Maye or Jacoby Brissett, by name, but he indicated that one of the things he prefers about Dallas is sharing a quarterback room with Prescott.

Milton was shocked when he was traded by New England, but in a recent media session, he revealed why the trade was a blessing in disguise.
For starters, Milton is a Florida native, and he was excited about the prospect of leaving the cold and blistery Foxborough, Massachusetts area and getting down to Texas, where he is more accustomed to the warm weather.

Milton also cited playing for America’s Team in AT&T Stadium as a plus. You won’t find many quarterbacks around the NFL who would prefer to play in an open-air stadium, as winds and other factors can affect the ball spiraling through the air.
The opportunity for Milton to learn under the tutelage of Prescott, the incumbent Cowboys starter, is also a positive for the Tennessee product. With nine years of experience as a franchise quarterback, Milton should be able to pick up a multiude of tips and tricks from Prescott, who was a former Day Three selection himself back in the 2016 NFL Draft.

All in all, both the Patriots and Cowboys are better off after the trade, as New England can now solely focus on the development of Maye, and Dallas can groom a young signal caller into their quarterback of the future.
“Coming here was a blessing,” Milton said to the press. “I didn’t know it was going to be here. My agent said it was multiple teams that called. So I didn’t know where I was going to end up. I was just thankful to go somewhere.”

For Dallas, Milton is a promising backup to Prescott. For the Patriots, he’s a thorn removed from their side. According to a report from Greg Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal, New England was happy to move on from Milton.
Bedard spoke with a Patriots source who labeled Milton as “not a good dude”, citing concerns about his fit within the quarterback room and overall attitude.
“Knowing your role, playing your role, being part of a harmonious quarterback room – that was going to be an issue. It wasn’t about Drake Maye. It was just about the room,” he said.
Bedard mentioned Maye as there was some reported drama between them last season when the Pats chose to give Milton the majority of snaps over Maye in Week 18. Despite the fact that this was likely to up his trade value, Maye and his family were reportedly unhappy with the decision.

Despite this characterization of Milton, he was traded to Dallas along with a seventh-round pick for a fifth-rounder. That was reportedly not the Patriots’ best offer, but was accepted potentially to send Milton to a preferred location. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel indicated the move was in the team’s best interest.
After the trade, Maye was publicly supportive, saying that he texted Milton to wish him well and that he was happy for him. The Pats have since signed veteran quarterback Joshua Dobbs to mentor Maye, further solidifying their QB plans.
