The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office held a media conference to announce the arrest of a man accused of sexually related crimes while operating a massage business in Salinas.Anastacio Ramos Rubio, 58, of Salinas, was booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges of sodomy, sexual battery, and operating an unlicensed and unauthorized medical practice.Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto stated that Rubio had been running a massage business from his home in the Boronda area. A victim, who was recommended by an unknown person, was allegedly given unidentified pills to help her relax. During the massage, the victim was sexually penetrated and injected with an unknown substance, which Rubio claimed would help her relax.Weeks ago, a family member of the victim reported to the sheriff’s office that her mother had been inappropriately touched by Rubio.Nieto explained that the Hispanic community often relies on unlicensed businesses like the one Rubio was operating, with referrals being passed informally from person to person.The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office believes there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. “I can’t get into the details, but we know he is very prolific in these activities,” Nieto said, explaining their belief that more victims are involved.Full media conference below.
