Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Saturday paid tributes to the soldiers who laid down their lives in defence of the country during the 1999 Kargil War.

Mr. Arlekar laid a wreath at the War Memorial at the Pangode Military Station during a function organised by the Military Station, Pangode, to mark the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Brigadier Anurag Upadhyay, Station Commander of Pangode Military Station, senior officers, veterans and soldiers were present on the occasion. The Governor also interacted with veteran soldiers during the event.

The Kargil Vijay Diwas is commemorated every year on July 26 to mark the Indian victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War.
