According to the Iranian local media reports, among those killed were five civilians and three suspected gunmen who opened fire at the judiciary building in Zahedan. Jaish al-Adl (Arabic for “Army of Justice”), a Baloch jihadist group based in Pakistan but also active in Iran, claimed responsibility for the attack.
The official IRNA news agency reported that three of the attackers were killed during the assault, citing the regional headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). As per reports, assailants threw a grenade into the building, which injured and killed a one-year-old baby and his mother.
Several videos of the attack going viral on social media sites show security officers with rifles in their hands running on the street towards the building in an attempt to respond to the suspected gunmen. Gunshots and non-stop voice of assault guns can be heard in the video.

At Least 6 Dead In Militant Attack On Courthouse In Southeast Iran
At least six people were killed and 22 injured after three Jaish al-Adl militants attacked a courthouse in Zahedan, the capital of the restive province of Sistan-Baluchistan in southeast Iran. The Iranian judiciary in a statement on July 26 called the assault a “terrorist attack.”
The Iranian judiciary in a statement on July 26 called the assault a “terrorist attack.”
Jaish al-Adl, a Baluch separatist militant group that is believed to be operating out of neighboring Pakistan, claimed the attack in a statement on its Telegram channel.
The group warned the judiciary’s personnel that Sistan-Baluchistan is “no longer a safe place” for them.
Iranian media said all three attackers were killed in the attack.
This marks the militant group’s deadliest attack in Iran since October 2024, when Jaish al-Adl militants ambushed a police convoy, killing 10 officers.
Jaish al-Adl, which is designated as a terrorist group by both Iran and the United States, has repeatedly clashed with security forces and Iranian border guards in Sistan-Baluchistan Province, at times taking them hostage or killing them.
Members of the Baluch minority, many of whom are Sunni Muslims in Shi’ite-majority Iran, have long faced disproportionate discrimination and violence at the hands of the authorities.
The area has also long been a key transit route for narcotics smuggled from Afghanistan to the West and beyond.
French authorities investigate claims Jewish passengers were removed from flight due to religion
French authorities are investigating whether a group of young French citizens were removed from a Vueling flight from Valencia, Spain, to Paris this week due to their Jewish faith. Several dozen French passengers were reportedly removed from the Wednesday flight, with both Spanish police and Vueled asserting the action was taken due to unruly behaviour. Some Israeli news outlets reported that the students were Jewish and that their removal was religiously motivated, a claim that was repeated by an Israeli minister online. The airline has vehemently denied these claims.
The airline has vehemently denied these claims. Several dozen French passengers were reportedly removed from the Wednesday flight, with both Spanish police and Vueling asserting the action was taken due to unruly behaviour.
France’s ministry for Europe and foreign affairs said in a statement on Saturday that the minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, contacted the CEO of Vueling, Carolina Martinoli, to express his deep concern “about the removal of a group of young French Jews from one of the company’s flights”.

Barrot also requested more information to “determine whether these individuals had been discriminated against on the basis of their religion.”
A similar request has been made to the Spanish ambassador to France.
“Ms. Martinoli assured Mr. Barrot that a thorough internal investigation was underway and that its findings would be shared with the French and Spanish authorities,” the ministry said.

Vueling previously denied reports that the incident, which involved the removal of 44 minors and eight adults from flight V8166, was related to the passengers’ religion.
Some Israeli news outlets reported that the students were Jewish and that their removal was religiously motivated, a claim that was repeated by an Israeli minister online. Spain’s Civil Guard said the minors and adults were French nationals. A Civil Guard spokesperson said the agents involved were not aware of the group’s religious affiliation.

A Vueling spokesperson said the passengers were removed after the minors repeatedly tampered with the plane’s emergency equipment and interrupted the crew’s safety demonstration. A Civil Guard spokesperson said the captain of the plane ordered the removal of the minors from the plane at Valencia’s Manises Airport after they repeatedly ignored the crew’s instructions.
On Thursday, the Federation for Jewish Communities of Spain expressed concern about the incident. The group said that Vueling needed to provide documentary evidence of what happened on the plane.
Iran Terror Attack: At Least 9 Killed in Courthouse Attack in Baluch Region
A group called Jaish al-Adl carried out an armed attack at a courthouse in Zahedan. The clash left at least nine people dead, including three of the attackers, according to state media. Another 22 people were injured. The region, which lies in southeastern Iran near the borders of Pakistan and Afghanistan, is home to the Baluch minority.
Jaish al-Adl, a Sunni militant group, later confirmed that three of its members were killed during the confrontation with security forces. The region, which lies in southeastern Iran near the borders of Pakistan and Afghanistan, is home to the Baluch minority. The community has often spoken about being left out of political and economic opportunities.
Among those killed were a toddler, a 60-year-old woman, and three members of the security forces who were guarding the courthouse. A judiciary official said the attackers had explosives and grenades with them, though it’s unclear if any were used.
In a statement posted on Telegram, Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility and said they had killed around 30 members of Iran’s judiciary and security forces. The group said their target was the judges and court staff, accusing them of passing harsh punishments, including death sentences and home demolitions, against Baluch people.
They issued a warning saying that Baluchestan would no longer be safe for court officials and that they would continue seeking revenge.
At least six civilians killed in militant attack on courthouse in south-east Iran
Jihadist group claims responsibility for attack in Iran’s Sistan-Balochistan province. At least six people were killed and 22 injured in the three-hour clash. The group has been designated a terrorist group by the Iranian government. It has carried out attacks in the province in the past, including one in December 2023 that killed 11 people and injured many more. The attack was carried out by three men wearing suicide vests, state media reported. The militants are believed to be affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISI)
Attackers stormed the building, shooting a number of people inside. They then launched a second attack with mortars and grenade launchers on the courthouse, where a clash began with security forces that lasted three hours, according to the Baluch human rights group Haalvsh.
Three gunmen were killed in the clash, Iran’s state news agency said.
State media said several people injured in the attack were in critical condition and had been transferred to local hospitals.
Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement on Telegram and told civilians to evacuate the area “for their safety”. Residents reported hearing several explosions and gunfire, while some roads that led to the courthouse were closed, Haalvsh reported.
Sistan-Baluchestan province, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has had an ongoing insurgency for the past two decades. It is home to Iran’s Sunni Baluch minority, who have advocated for autonomy and have long maintained that they experience marginalisation and exclusion under the Iranian government.
The insurgency is part of a greater insurgency in Balochistan, which includes the Pakistani province of Balochistan. It is waged by Islamic militant groups and separatists and has included attacks which have wounded civilians as well as state security personnel in both countries.
Jaish al-Adl is one of the Islamist militant groups in the province, and has been fighting Iranian security forces since 2014. Iranian authorities have designated the organisation a terrorist group and have accused Pakistan and Israel of backing the group.
The group carried out an attack on a police station in Sistan-Baluchestan province in December 2023, killing 11 people. An attack by the group on Iranian border guards in January 2024 led to Iran striking Pakistan, saying it was targeting a Jaish al-Adl cell in the country.
The Iranian government has accused the insurgency movement of being funded by foreign actors and of engaging in illegal smuggling operations.
The deputy police chief of Sistan-Baluchestan province, Sardar Alireza Deliri, described Jaish al-Adl on Saturday as being affiliated with “Zionists”, referring to Israel. He said the three militants killed were the only ones involved in the attack and claimed they were wearing undetonated suicide belts.
