Mike Trout hit a two-run homer in a four-run fifth inning to reach 1,000 career RBIs, and the Angels beat the Seattle Mariners 4-1 on Sunday. Raleigh connected against Hendricks in the seventh, his second home run in two nights and fourth this year against Los Angeles.
Hendricks, who had one walk and three strikeouts, won for the first time since June 17.
Gilbert (3-4) gave up four runs and three hits over five innings with seven strikeouts.
Key moment: Angels center fielder Jo Adell kept Seattle off the scoreboard in the sixth when he reached above the wall to take away a home run from J.P. Crawford.

Key stat: Trout became the third player to get his first 1,000 RBIs entirely in an Angels uniform, following Garret Anderson and Tim Salmon.

The 33-year-old centerfielder is once again the talk of trade rumors as the MLB trade deadline begins to creep up. Trout has spent all 15 years of his career as a member of the Angels and is currently in the seventh year of his 12-year, $426.5 million contract, making him an unrestricted free agent in 2031 when he’ll be 39. He is the only player in MLB history to hit 30 home runs, steal 45 bases, and score 125 runs in a single season as a rookie.
Trout’s career milestone came off Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Trout was slashing .233/.360/.459 on the season with 18 home runs and 45 RBI in 79 games heading into Sunday’s action.
The 33-year-old veteran is once again the talk of trade rumors as the MLB trade deadline begins to creep up, with Phillies fans hoping the team makes a move for the three-time MVP and 11-time All-Star, to which Trout says, “I see (the trade rumors) all the time.”
The future Hall of Famer went into Sunday’s game with 1,713 hits, 396 home runs, and 999 RBI with a career .296 batting average and .983 OPS in 1,596 games.
After being drafted 25th overall in the 2009 MLB Draft, Trout made his big-league debut in 2011. He went on to play just 40 games and hit an underwhelming .220.
However, that quickly changed.
Trout’s Career
In 2010, Trout earned his first All-Star selection before going on to win Rookie of the Year, his first of nine Silver Slugger awards, and MVP runner-up after batting .326 and leading the league in both stolen bases (49) and runs (129) while putting up 30 home runs and 83 RBI.
His record of being the youngest (20) American League Rookie of the Year award winner still holds to this day, also in the same year (2012) when Trout became the youngest member of the famous 30-30 club (home runs/stolen bases) in MLB history.
Trout also remains the only player in MLB history to hit 30 home runs, steal 45 bases, and score 125 runs in a single season as a rookie.
In four of the next five years, Trout would continue to lead the league in runs. He’s also a three-time leader in walks, five-time leader in WAR (2012-2016), and four-time leader in both on-base percentage (2016-2019) and OPS (2015, 2017-2019).
During his first eight full seasons in the majors, Trout would never once hit less than 27 home runs for eight straight seasons, setting a career-high in 2019 with 45 – winning his third and most recent MVP award.
Unfortunately, since 2020, Trout has dealt with consistent injuries. Between 2020 and 2024, Trout only posted one season (2022) of over 100 games played. Despite this, he still made the All-Star team three times in that span (2021-2023) after putting up incredible first-half of the season stats.
Luckily, this season Trout has been relatively healthy and is on track to finish with over 100 games.
Trout has spent all 15 years of his career as a member of the Angels and is currently in the seventh year of his 12-year, $426.5 million contract, making him an unrestricted free agent in 2031 when he’ll be 39.

While their playoff hopes are slim, they nonetheless enjoyed a well-played game against a good team.
Starter Kyle Hendricks gave up one run in six innings. Hendricks was working on a shutout until he gave up a seventh-inning homer to MVP candidate Cal Raleigh, his 41st of the season.
Relievers Reid Detmers, Brock Burke and Kenley Jansen closed it down to secure the victory.
As for Trout, he’d been slumping since the All-Star break, to go with a setback in his efforts to get back into right field.
Trout said he’s more concerned with keeping his bat in the lineup. The Angels aren’t going to argue, because even when he’s not at his best, he’s still dangerous.
Trout came to the plate in the fifth inning with the Angels having just scored the first two runs of the game on a collection of walks, wild pitches and a hit batter. Nolan Schanuel was standing at second after dropping a blooper just inside the left-field line, for the first hit of the inning.
Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert threw Trout a 96 mph fastball over the outer half of the plate, and Trout crushed it onto the green batters’ eye above the trees.
It was Trout’s 19th homer of the season, but just his second since the All-Star break.
At that point, the Angels and Hendricks had a 4-0 lead.
Hendricks was cruising through the Seattle lineup, having allowed just one hit and one walk, both in the fifth inning. Hendricks had thrown just 59 pitches as he took the mound in the sixth, but the Angels still had two relievers warming because of his propensity to lose his effectiveness the third time through the lineup.
Hendricks nearly gave up a homer to the 19th batter of the game. Mariners leadoff hitter J.P. Crawford sent a drive to center field, but Jo Adell leapt at the fence and robbed him a homer.
Hendricks got another out to finish the sixth, before his day was ended by Raleigh’s homer in the seventh.

But the all-time great Angels outfielder has still put together an incredible career, and he is on the verge of two impressive milestones.

Trout exits the All-Star break with 395 career home runs and 995 career RBI.
There have been 307 players in MLB history to reach 1,000 RBI, while just 58 players have gotten to 400 homers.
Trout starts the second half in Philadelphia, not far from where he grew up in New Jersey.
At most, it’ll probably take a few weeks for Trout to join both the 400-HR and 1000-RBI clubs.

On the season, Trout has 17 home runs and is hitting .238/.365/.471.
He also has some legends in front of him on the way to 400 homers. Joe Carter hit 396, Dale Murphy 398 and both Al Kaline and Andres Galarraga 399.

Trout may never be as good as he once was, but it’s special to see him continue to shine bright on occasion, and these milestones will be a great reminder of his already legendary career.
