Post-draft 2025 NFL QB Power Rankings: Commanders’ Jayden Daniels, Eagles’ Jalen Hurts lead the way
Jayden Daniels was unflappable for much of his dynamic debut for the Washington Commanders. Lamar Jackson is a walking fireworks show, forever liable to change a game in a single play. Josh Allen is coming off his most efficient season while operating with a new-look receiving group. Patrick Mahomes’ ugly Super Bowl showing an anomaly, or clear evidence his increasing dependence on last-minute heroics isn’t as sustainable as it once was for Kansas City? Matthew Stafford is still the most trustworthy signal-caller in the game, but he’s now proven vulnerable twice on the big stage. The Los Angeles Rams QB has been a revelation since his move to the NFC West. The New England Patriots have been the NFL’s best team without a Super Bowl win since 2004. Jalen Hurts is the fourth Black QB to win the Super Bowl. This time is different | Opinion
Jalen Hurts is the fourth Black QB to win the Super Bowl. Hurts has absorbed hours and hours of sports talk criticism ever since he was benched for Tua Tagovailoa during the 2018 college football championship game. In a 2024 preseason ranking of NFL quarterbacks, compiled from a survey of league insiders, Hurts didn’t even crack the top 1. The win represents the next level of progress, signifying to would-be QBs at the youth level and beyond: Come as you are, writes Jarrett Bellini. “With Super Bowl win, Jalen Hurting defeated the Chiefs, and his critics were wrong,” Bellini says. “It was a big win for the Black quarterback movement,” says Bellini, “and for the black community in general. It’s a step in the right direction, and it’s time to celebrate” Read full article
NFL Power Rankings: Final quarterback rankings after Super Bowl LIX
The 2024 NFL Season is officially over. Let’s power-rank the top 10 quarterbacks in the NFL as we head into the offseason. Jalen Hurts, the Philadelphia Eagles’ QB who is now a Super Bowl champion, comes in at no. 10. Matthew Stafford, the Los Angeles Rams’ QB, is still among the best at his age. Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the epitome of a good team, and nothing else, and may have hit their ceiling in the postseason. The Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert has been in the playoffs two times in his NFL career and has played quite poorly in those games. He is ninth in our final QB power rankings. It’s going to be a long time before Super Bowl LX, but it honestly would not shock me if we again saw the Chiefs and Eagles in the Super Bowl next year… or the following year… Or the year after that, or the next year.
