Star Castle reaches capacity on final night of business
Star Castle opened as an arcade on White Bluff Road in 1984. It’s current location on Mall Blvd has been in operation for 25 years. It includes a skating rink, laser tag arena and food court. The last skate was from 6pm until 10pm, but the venue hit capacity within hours.
The business first opened as an arcade on White Bluff Road in 1984. It’s current location on Mall Blvd has been in operation for 25 years. It includes a skating rink, laser tag arena and food court.
“People who came here as kids are now bringing kids in here to skate,” said Star Castle General Manager John Povanda. “It’s been a great run.”
Thursday’s last skate was from 6pm until 10pm, but the venue hit capacity within hours.
“The line is filled all the way to the back lot currently,” said customer Turner Ray. “It must be really detrimental to lose this place, but I’m glad they are having a good sendoff.”
In May, Star Castle took to social media to announce the summer closing. People instantly shared their memories of roller derby leagues, summer camps and family gathering.
“We do this every weekend,” said customer Chris Davis. “Every weekend we are here.”
Povanda said Thursday, July 31st, was Star Castle’s final night of business.
