Tybee Business Boom: How new businesses are boosting the local economy
Four new businesses have opened in the last few months on Tybee Island. Main Street Tybee sees this as a good sign for the island’s economy. The island is already seeing more foot traffic as a result of these new shops. If you have an idea for a new business to bring to the island, to reach out to Main StreetTybee.com.
The island may look a bit different, with new businesses popping up like The Window, Farace’s Finest, Sand Cat Cafe, and the Kelpie, along with Atomic Bar on the way.
“We are so excited to see new businesses join us on the island,” said Maggie Wright, Main Street Tybee’s coordinator.
Four new businesses have opened in the last few months, all during the island’s busiest season.
“I haven’t seen this many open at one time. But it’s definitely been interesting to see,” Wright said.
Main Street Tybee, the island’s economic development program sees this as a good sign for the island’s economy.
It’s drawing more people to the island as more options for dining and exploring pop up.
“By bringing in, of course, more money into our local economy. And just bringing business and bringing visitors from surrounding areas,” Wright explained.

“Opening during the busy season is a great time for new businesses to open, you’re getting your name and your face out there as a new business on Tybee. And, of course, getting lots of business from our locals and our visitors,” Wright said.
New spots opening up means more jobs are as well.
