NFL preseason live updates: Friday night slate includes Caleb Williams and Cam Ward while Jerry Jones’ media tour continues
The final week of NFL preseason action is here, with everything wrapping up by Saturday night. No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward is expected to play for the Tennessee Titans in their preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings. The Washington Commanders trade Brian Robinson Jr. to the San Francisco 49ers. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel vows to find the person who leaked Ja’Lynn Polk’s season-ending shoulder injury to the media. The Dallas Cowboys team owner and general manager Jerry Jones escalates the Micah Parsons contract negotiation and lobbing shots at his agent, David Mulugheta. The Cleveland Browns will have Shedeur Sanders take the field as their third-string quarterback on Saturday, as Cleveland takes on the Los Angeles Rams. The Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears will play starters vs. starters in the nightcap, with Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson’s Bears offense looking to build off their dominant showing last Sunday. Friday offers a pretty zesty slate of games by end of preseason standards. We’re going to get starters vs. starters in the Kansas City Chiefs-Chicago Bears nightcap, with Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson’s Bears offense looking to build off their dominant showing last Sunday. Andy Reid, meanwhile, is no stranger to playing his starters in the preseason, meaning we’ll see Patrick Mahomes and Co. some too.

No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward is expected to play for the Tennessee Titans in their preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings, which will be broadcast nationally on CBS. The Cowboys will start Joe Milton at quarterback in their preseason finale vs. the Atlanta Falcons, and fans should keep an eye on how many snaps Milton gets after a rough preseason thus far, because Will Grier might still nab the QB2 spot behind Dak Prescott.
Friday’s other preseason game features the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles traveling to face the New York Jets, but the starters aren’t expected to play in that game.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel vows to find the person who leaked Ja’Lynn Polk’s season-ending shoulder injury to the media: News broke on Thursday that 2024 second-round pick Ja’Lynn Polk would miss the 2025 NFL season with a shoulder injury … and Vrabel wants to know who spilled the beans. Speaking to the media on Friday, Vrabel was asked for a comment on the report, stating, “No. I don’t know. Other than, I’d like to find out where some of these [reports] come from. Some of these rats around here. We’ll figure that out.”
Washington Commanders trade Brian Robinson Jr. to the San Francisco 49ers: After plenty of trade speculation, the Commanders have sent their former third-round pick to the 49ers in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick. Robinson will now serve as a backup to star Christian McCaffrey amid a slew of injuries at the position in San Francisco, providing some much-needed depth.
Jerry Jones escalates Micah Parsons contract negotiation: Dallas Cowboys team owner and general manager Jerry Jones is spending the end of the week going on various shows, talking the Micah Parsons negotiation and lobbing shots at his agent, David Mulugheta. Jones indicated Thursday the Cowboys were willing to pay Parsons more guaranteed money than any non-quarterback has ever received, and that when he sent the contract details to Mulugheta, he told the Cowboy to “stick it up our a**.” ESPN analyst Ryan Clark went on social media and said he spoke to Mulugheta, who denied that claim.
Shedeur Sanders will play in Browns’ preseason finale: After an oblique injury kept him out of the Cleveland Browns’ second preseason game, Shedeur Sanders is set to take the field this weekend. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters on Thursday that, barring any injury setbacks, Sanders will be the team’s third-string quarterback on Saturday, as Cleveland takes on the Los Angeles Rams in their preseason finale. Flacco, who was named as Cleveland’s starting quarterback earlier this week, will start in Saturday’s game. Rookie Dillon Gabriel will be the QB2, followed by Sanders.
