Manufacturing planned for mid-2027, with a likely Fall 2027 Release Date

Moore’s Law Is Dead previously stated that the PS6 and the Canis handheld are set to launch in Fall 2027 — early 2028, and in regards to Sony’s next-generation console itself, they expect backward compatibility for PS4 & PS5 tiles and will be powered by 8 x Zen 6 (or later) Cores, with Sony apparently putting emphasis on keeping power lower than PS5.

The PS6 handheld companion has been rumoured for some time now, and a report back in May this year from an insider on NeoGAF stating that the device is set to arrive alongside the PS6. Furthermore, it was also claimed that the PS6 Canis handheld will support shader binary compatibility, which means PS5 games can be played on the device without the developers having to implemented any changes.
