FIIs are generally going to start with the largecaps and maybe go to midcaps. It is the domestic money that is going to drive the mid and smallcaps. We have bought in the last few days into a domestic cement stock. We were looking at domestic facing stories where things have gotten interesting and where we think the valuations have got attractive. We are seeing some fundamental drivers. So, I would leave it at that in terms of the type of companies we are buying.

Cochin Shipyard and GRSE shares rally over 11% on Q4 earnings euphoria, defence order outlook
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers ( GRSE ) and Cochin Shipyard rose over 11% on Friday. GRSE shares climbed as much as 11% to Rs 2,507 on the BSE, extending a three-session rally that has seen the stock surge 31% since it announced its quarterly and annual earnings after market hours on May 13. The defence PSU reported a twofold jump in net profit at Rs 224 crore for the March quarter, up from Rs 112 crore in the same period last year. The earnings-driven rally has also been underpinned by broader optimism in the sector, with Antique Stock Broking projecting a sharp expansion in the order books of India’s defence shipbuilders. Antique expects combined orders for GRSE, Cochin. Shipyard and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders to more than triple by FY27, supported by rising indigenization.

Will Starship Fly Next Week? Elon Musk Hopeful About Ninth Test Flight
SpaceX is targeting the launch of Starship’s ninth test mission next week. According to reports, the world’s biggest rocket will liftoff no earlier than May 22 in what would be its third flight of the year. CEO Elon Musk is confident about the next flight as Starship has secured a launch license from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) On the same day, SpaceX completed a long-duration static test fire of all six engines on Starship’s upper stage. On May 14, Musk confirmed the ninth launch is next week saying he will give a company talk to discuss “the Mars game plane” at Starbase before the flight. Musk wanted to launch the rocket 25 times in 2025 but has only done it twice. Both missions have only been partly successful as the upper stage lost contact and exploded just few minutes in its flight.

FAA Delays SpaceX Starship Flight 9 Launch Pending Review
The FAA has approved license modifications for SpaceX’s highly anticipated Starship Flight 9 mission but has not yet granted launch authorization. The FAA clarified that SpaceX must wait until it completes the investigation into the Starship Flight 8 mishap or makes a formal return-to-flight determination. The Starship 9 launch will influence air traffic along a 1,600-nautical-mile corridor stretching east from Texas through the Straits of Florida. An estimated 175 commercial flights will be affected.

Rupee rises 12 paise to USD 85.42 against US dollar in early trade
Rupee rose 12 paise to 85.42 against the greenback in early trade, buoyed by strong FII inflows and a weaker dollar index. However, widening of trade deficit, a weaker start in the domestic equity markets and a rise in Brent crude prices capped further gains in the local unit. Sensex declined 252.97 points to 82,277.77, while the Nifty dropped 67.6 points to 24,994.50. The dollar index was trading lower by 0.24 per cent at 100.641.
