Most dogs have a protective instinct, especially when it comes to their home and loved ones. This tendency is stronger in some breeds more than others, like German Shepherds or Dobermans. Still, even small canines get courageous when they feel a family member or their territory is in danger.

Pancake the Bulldog appears to have a more meditative approach toward guarding her home.

In the TikTok from @thebabypancake, the Bulldog’s somewhat laid-back protection skills were on display.

“Proof Pancake is the best guard dog,” the video began as Pancake was resting comfortably on the couch.

“Someone trying to break in,” the onscreen text read as a landscaper worked outside the sliding glass door. Yet Pancake continued to lounge and barely moved a muscle. Apparently, she uses mind control to keep her home safe.

“Chasing intruder away with her thoughts,” the story continued as the pensive pooch had a very reflective expression on her face. Her technique worked, where the landscaper was seen leaving the premises.

The next scene showed Pancake taking a “deserved rest” after her hard work.

While the Bulldog definitely has a more relaxed approach to guarding the house, followers applauded her methods.

“The robber took one look at pancake and left she is so fierce,” one commented.

“My girl is working overtime,” a fan remarked.

“Pancake didn’t even have to move to scare that intruder away… they knew she meant business,” another pointed out.

“They didn’t come in did they? I think Pancake did an amazing job of deterring them with her thoughts,” a follower shared.

Are Bulldogs Protective

Bulldogs are often viewed as couch potatoes, yet they are also fiercely loyal to their family members. The breed’s deep bark and muscular build work in its favor when considering “guard dog potential”. Proper training could help your Bulldog hone those protective skills.

While they may not join the guard dog status of a German Shepherd or Doberman, Bulldogs are wonderful family pets and are completely devoted to their loved ones. It was obvious Pancake was in protective mode — she just goes about it in her own way.
