Hundreds join Northland Heart Walk to support heart health
The Northland Heart Walk raised more than $33,000 for the American Heart Association. The walk is part of a nationwide movement to improve health outcomes and support those affected by cardiovascular disease. Organizers say it’s important for people to learn CPR, which can make a lifesaving difference. Nearly 9 in 10 people who experience cardiac arrest outside of a hospital do not survive.
The event, organized by the American Heart Association, drew more than 300 participants for a family-friendly walk aimed at supporting research and education.
“Heart disease is still the number one cause of death, and it affects so many people across the U.S.,” said Briana Johnson, Heart Walk director. “Whether someone is living with cardiovascular disease or has lost a loved one to heart disease or stroke, we raise awareness and funds all year long to fight it.”
This year’s walk raised more than $33,000 to benefit the association’s mission.
Along with the walk itself, attendees took part in hands-on CPR education, survivor celebrations, and other activities.
