No ‘Real Concessions’: Putin Used Trump Call to Delay, Not End Ukraine War, Experts Say
U.S. President Donald Trump called Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin days after renewed talks between Moscow and Kyiv in Istanbul. Both leaders said the call “went very well” and was “substantive and quite candid” While Trump declared that Russia-Ukraine talks would begin “immediately,” he made no mention of a ceasefire or having put pressure on Putin to commit to peace. Experts say the call was the latest example of Moscow offering Trump something he could tout as a victory without making any substantial concessions in its three-year invasion of Ukraine. The Kremlin said that both sides agreed that Russia would “propose and is ready to engage” with Kyiv on drafting a memorandum.

Trump urges Russia to stop attacks, says Zelenskiy might cede Crimea
U.S. President urges Russia to stop its attacks in Ukraine. Trump says he is disappointed that Russia has continued to attack Ukraine. U.S., European and Ukrainian counter-proposals defer detailed discussion about territory until after a ceasefire is concluded.”I see him as calmer. I came in to try and solve a problem,” he says of the Russian president. “To just abandon all the sacrifice that they made, after so much loss of life, is not the right thing to do,” Obama says of Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I am not going to let this go on any longer,” says U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. “It’s time to end this war,” says European Union’s foreign policy chief. “We need to end it now”

Trump calls on Russia and Ukraine to meet to negotiate an end to the war
Talks aimed at brokering a deal have gone well after his envoy to met Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday. “Most of the major points are agreed to. Stop the bloodshed, NOW,” Trump said on social media. “We are now going through the rubble with our hands,” he said after the meeting. “They are very close to a deal, and the two sides should now meet, at very high levels, to ‘finish it off,'” he said. “The discussions allowed the U.S. and Russia to further bridge their positions not only about Ukraine but on a host of other international issues,” Putin’s adviser, Yuri Ushakov, said at the end of the talks. “And that was it. We no longer had walls,” he added. “It was one of the deadliest attacks on the capital city since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022” “We need both of them to say yes, but what happened last night with those missile strikes should remind everybody of why this war needs to end,” Rubio said.

Trump says he is ‘not happy’ with deadly Russian strikes on Kyiv
Trump says he is ‘not happy’ with deadly Russian strikes on Kyiv. But he has not said if further action might be taken against Russia. The attacks on the Ukrainian capital killed at least 12 people and injured 90 others. It is the latest road bump in efforts to advance a peace deal between the two countries. The attack has come at a time of growing pressure on Ukraine to accept Russian occupation of its territory as part of the peace deal. The US president said he would wait a week “to see if we have a deal” to end the conflict. The Russian foreign minister said there was no evidence to back his claim.
