CBP implements technology to expedite processing during summer travel season
U.S. Customs and Border Protection processed over 420 million travelers at ports of entry in 2024. This is a 6.6 increase from the previous year. The agency is using new state-of-the-art technology to speed up processing.
To help speed up processing this year, the agency is using new state-of-the-art technology at all ports of entry.
One of which is Enhanced passenger processing, which automatically takes pictures of travelers and provides biometric confirmation before they reach a CBP officer.
Trusted travelers’ programs can also use the seamless border entry which combines a trusted traveler program framework which allows global entry members to move through the inspection process with little interaction with a CBP officer.
Travelers can also use a mobile passport control app for a fast and secure way to submit their passport and travel information in advance.
