Fresno State students participate in summer business institute
Eight students from the University of California, San Diego, have been selected to take part in the summer program. The students will learn how to use computers and other technology to improve their knowledge of the world around them. They will also learn about how to apply their knowledge to the real world. The program is open to students from all over the U.S.
Launched in 2012, the 10-day summer institute offers an immersive business and career leadership experience for undergraduate students who are interested in developing their professional skills and have an interest in attending a graduate business program in the future. The goal is to increase the diversity of graduate students enrolled in University of California business schools.
Fifty students were chosen to participate. Fresno State has the largest number of students accepted into this year’s program which is being held at the UC San Diego Rady School of Management from May 20 to 30.
“We are excited to have eight students — the most of any participating university — in the 2025 Summer Institute, where they will acquire business skills, network with peers and professionals and work on their own professional development with the goal of enrolling in a UC graduate program in business,” said Dr. Bernadette Muscat, dean of Undergraduate Studies at Fresno State.
The students will learn from educators from the six University of California graduate schools of business. They will also meet with industry leaders and participate in business and entrepreneurship workshops.
Students who complete the program will receive up to two years of full fee and tuition fellowships if they are admitted into a UC graduate master’s business program. Those admitted to a Ph.D. program at a UC business school will receive a competitive funding package to facilitate degree completion.
