U.S. Travel Advisory Targets Popular Destination in Europe
Right now, the U.S. Department of State is warning Americans to use caution when visiting one European country. The risk is listed at “Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution” from the State Department. There is an ongoing risk of terrorist attacks in Germany and across Europe, the department says. If you are heading to Germany, and having been there, I suggest you do go, you’re advised to follow a few simple tips, says Johnny Marks, CNN’s Iowa Statehouse Correspondent and host of “Iowa Snapshots” on CNN.com and “Iowa City Tonight” on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET. For many, it’s a road trip to somewhere in the Midwest, if not staying within the state. Some of my favorite memories were summer road trips.
For others, it may be a trip overseas. From sightseeing at a historic location, or possibly seeing out of country family, to just a really cool family vacation.

What does Level 2 mean?
Four threat levels can be issued with any travel warning. They escalate with 4, and yes, there are threat level 4 countries, which means do not travel.
1 would be the most minor, and even Canada is on the list as a “1” right now. It simply means you should exercise normal precautions in most cases.

For this warning issued for travel to Germany, the U.S. Department of State urges caution for a couple of reasons:

Potential Targets: Public places such as tourist attractions, transportation hubs (airports, train stations), shopping centers, government buildings, hotels, restaurants, places of worship, schools, parks, and major events could be targeted.
