Neenah’s Carl Hein, Appleton West’s Truman Vogel and Notre Dame’s Alex Thomas are the three area Division 1 singles players who have advanced to the third round at the state tournament. Hein will face Mukwonago’s Andrew Davies in a third-round match. Vogel will take on No. 1 seed and defending champion CJ Kryscio of Menomonee Falls. St. Mary’s Catholic’s Wesley Auth, who is seeded 4 in singles, had a first-round bye. In doubles, the Kimberly duo of Aiden Meixl and Colin Meixr will face Sun Prairie”s Cameron McKenna and Aashrith Kamini in the second round. In the scond round, the duo of Tony Bersch and Aiden Tines lost their first- round match to Adam Nelson and Vincent Fox of Edgland and lost their second-round game to Adam and Sean Nelson of Osland. The Wisconsin Tennis Association is holding its state tournament this week in Madison.

WIAA State Tournament
MADISON – Neenah’s Carl Hein, Appleton West’s Truman Vogel and Notre Dame’s Alex Thomas are the three area Division 1 singles players who have advanced to the third round at the state tournament.
Hein defeated Green Bay Southwest’s Martin Garcia 6-0, 6-1 in the first round and Fond du Lac’s Leyton Batchelder 6-2, 6-3 in the second round.
Hein will face Mukwonago’s Andrew Davies in a third-round match.

Vogel beat Keenan Haws of Cedarburg 6-1, 6-0 in his first match and dispatched Verona’s Ty Tennison 6-3, 6-2 in his second match.
Vogel will take on No. 1 seed and defending champion CJ Kryscio of Menomonee Falls in a third-round match.
Thomas had a bye in the first round and then beat Jeff Russell of Marquette University 6-0, 6-0 in the second round. He will play Brandon Hall of Badger in the third round.,
Liam Hankel of West De Pere won his first match 7-6 (5), 6-1 over Brandon McCormick of Holmen and dropped his second match 6-0, 6-0 to Kryscio.
West De Pere’s Rafe Zifferblat beat Aaron Lambrigtsen 6-2, 6-3 in a first-round contest and then lost to Mukwonago’s Davies 6-3, 6-1 in the second round.
Appleton West’s Cale Vogel beat Jacob Stinski of Oshkosh West 7-5, 6-4 in a first-round match and then lost to Anderson Fortney of Aquinas 6-0, 6-3 in a second-round contest.
Neenah’s Hunter Brown beat Hudson’s Nate Anderson 6-1, 6-0 in a first-round match before falling to Grant Schaefer of Whitefish Bay 6-1, 6-2 in a second-round contest.
In doubles, the Kimberly duo of Aiden Meixl and Colin Meixl had a first-round bye. They will face Sun Prairie’s Cameron McKenna and Aashrith Kamini in the second round.
De Pere’s Kegan McDonough and Tudor Cristescu also had a first-round bye. They will play Stevens Point’s Tully Smith and Will Matthews.
Neenah’s Luke Grassl and Henry Farrell won their opening match, defeating Appleton North’s Cam Hoffmann and Nevan Glenn 6-4, 6-3. Grassl and Farrell will play Franklin’s Aidan Irish and Conor Blattner in the second round.
Neenah’s Andrew Werner and Brady Lawatsch defeated La Crosse Central’s Drake Wonderling and Mitchell Lund 6-1, 6-3. Werner and Lawatsch will face Oregon’s Braeden Bakken and Hayden Lohrentz next.
Kimberly’s Hunter Holschuh and Jackson Lawson lost their opening-round match 6-1, 6-0 to Jack Schultz and Justin Dorf of Nicolet.
Green Bay Preble’s Vikram Khot and Isaac Fagre lost their opening-round match to Brookfield Central’s Viraj Bhagat and Diogo Trevizan 6-2, 6-3.
Bay Port’s Sam Stimpson and Brady Wells lost their first-round match to Jimmy Krcmarik and Harrison Kabara of Oconomowoc 6-2, 6-2.
Division 2
St. Mary Catholic’s Wesley Auth, who is seeded No. 4 in singles competition, had a first-round bye. He will face East Troy’s Michael Busateri in the scond round.
Xavier’s Kojo Norman lost his first-round match, falling to Maddox Bradfield on Madison Country Day Co-op 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles, St. Mary Catholic’s John Osland and Sean Osland lost their first-round match to Adam Nelson and Vincent Fox of Edgerton 6-1, 6-4.
SMC’s Harry Bergstrom and Aiden Tines lost to the Regis duo of Tony Wesner and Andrew Berschback 6-3, 7-5.
SOFTBALL
Division 1 sectional finals
Kaukauna 2, Green Bay Preble 1
PULASKI – The Ghosts plated a run in the top of the eighth and held off the Hornets to punch their ticket to the state tournament.
Kaukauna grabbed a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Lilly Boyle in the third, and held that edge until the bottom of the sixth, when Preble scored its lone run.
The Ghosts put together the winning rally in the top of the eighth. Paige Bodenheimer singled and was moved over to second. She then tried to steal third, but the throw got past the third baseman and she got up and raced home for what proved to be the winning score.
Karly Meredith allowed seven hits and struck out eight batters for Kaukauna in the complete-game win.
The win moved the second-seeded Ghosts to 25-0, while the top-seeded Hornets finished their season at 27-1.
Watertown 2, Neenah 0
OSHKOSH – The Goslings advanced to next week’s state tournament by blanking the Rockets.
The win moved Watertown to 21-4, while Neenah finished its season at 19-10.
Division 3 sectional finals
Valders 8, Xavier 2
CHILTON – The second-seeded Vikings proved too much for the fourth-seeded Hawks as they advanced to next week’s state tournament.
Valders erupted for six runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 2-2 tie.
The win moved Valders to 20-6 overall, while Xavier closed out its season at 12-10.
Division 4 sectional finals
Mishicot 6, Manawa 1
CRIVITZ – Kasey Brouchoud was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Cooper Brouchoud was 2-for-4 with a homer to lead Mishicot past the Wolves.
Kaelin Adair was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Mishicot.
Mishicot scored two runs in the second, one in the fifth and three in the seventh before Manawa plated its lone run in the bottom of the seventh.
Kiran Sanford picked up the win, pitching all seven innings and allowing two hits and one earned run while striking out 14.
Kelsey Behnke doubled in the Wolves’ run after Lily Krenke had singled.
Olivia Zielke took the loss in the circle, allowing nine hits and six runs – two earned – while striking out four in seven innings of work.
The win moved Mishicot to 25-3 on the season, while Manawa finishes at 19-5.
BASEBALL
Division 1 regional finals
Kimberly 5, Bay Port 4
KIMBERLY – The Papermakers scored the winning run in the sixth inning to edge the Pirates and win the regional title and advance to the sectional semifinals.
Kimberly scored three times in the first inning and once in the second before scoring the game-winning run in the sixth.
Bay Port rallied to score three runs in the fourth inning and added a run in the seventh before Kimberly was able to end the game.
Maddux Hermus had a home run for Kimberly, while Benny Kieffer had two hits.
Hermus pitched 3⅔ innings in relief of Sawyer Deering to get the win for Kimberly.
Kimberly, which is now 18-6, will face Hortonville in the sectional semifinal at 1 p.m. June 10 at Bay Port High School.
Keagan Wheeler took the loss for Bay Port, which ends its season with a record of 16-10.
Appleton North 2, Green Bay Preble 0
APPLETON – The Lightning improved to 17-7 overall as Colin Reddy pitched a no-hitter to lead Appleton North to the regional championship win over Green Bay Preble.
Appleton North scored twice in the third inning for the win.
Appleton North will play top-seeded De Pere at 10 a.m. on June 10 in the sectional semifinal at Bay Port High School.
Green Bay Preble sees its season end with an 18-8 record.
Hortonville 5, Pulaski 1
HORTONVILLE – After trailing early, the third-seeded Polar Bears rallied past the sixth-seeded Red Raiders to advance to the sectional semifinal against second-seeded Kimberly.
Pulaski opened the scoring in the third inning, but Hortonville answered with four runs of its own in the bottom of the frame. The Polar Bears added a run in the sixth.
Griffin Jens led a balanced offensive attack with two hits, while Gary Wuest drove in a pair of runs.
Braylon Brantner earned the win, pitching four innings and allowing three hits, one earned run and one walk, while striking out two. Taiven Gass earned the save, pitching the final three innings and allowing three walks with one strikeout.
Michael Molthen doubled and drove in Pulaski’s only run.
With the win, Hortonville moved to 20-7, while the Red Raiders finished their season at 17-10.
De Pere 4, Kaukauna 2
DE PERE – The top-seeded Redbirds rallied from an early deficit to outlast the ninth-seeded Ghosts.
The game was scoreless through four innings, before Kaukauna went up 2-0 in the fifth on an RBI single by Zander Leick and an error that scored the second run.
De Pere (19-4) rallied in the sixth. Ryan Wettstein led off with a single and Will Nikolay and Mason Sequin reached base to load the bases with no outs. Wettstein scored on a pass ball, then Issac Poehlman tied the game with an RBI single. Max Cavanaugh squeezed in the go-ahead run and ended the scoring on a throwing error.
Wettstein was 2-for-3 for De Pere, while Kyle Kress and Zander Leick were each 2-for-4 for Kaukauna.
Cullen Pennings pitched the last 2⅓ innings of relief to earn the win on the mound.
De Pere will play at 10 a.m. at Bay Port High School on June 10 in a sectional semifinal against Appleton North.
The Ghosts finished their season at 15-12.
Manitowoc 3, Appleton East 1
MANITOWOC – The Ships improved to 19-6 with their win over the Patriots.
Manitowoc has won three straight games and will face Hartford at E.J. Schneider Field in Oshkosh at 10 a.m. June 10 in a sectional semifinal.
Appleton East finishes the season with a record of 17-9.
Division 2 regional finals
Seymour 4, Waupaca 3
SEYMOUR – It’s on to the sectional semifinals for the Thunder after defeating the Comets for the regional championship.
Seymour, which will play Little Chute at 10 a.m. June 10 in Waupaca in the sectional semifinal, has a record of 23-3.
Waupaca closes its season with a record of 11-17.
Little Chute 9, Marinette 1
LITTLE CHUTE – The Mustangs, with the win over the Marines, advance to the sectional semifinals in Waupaca.
Little Chute improves its record to 21-5.
Marinette’s final record is 15-12.
Waupun 3, Xavier 2
WAUPUN – The Warriors squeaked out a win over the Hawks to advance to the sectional semifinals.
Waupun, which now sports a 20-7 record, will face No. 1 seed Kewaskum in Waupaca on June 10.
Xavier finishes with a record of 14-13.
Division 3 regional finals
Chilton 4, Algoma 3
CHILTON – The top-seeded Tigers slipped past the fourth-seeded Wolves.
Peyton Juckem had two hits and an RBI for Chilton. Mike Vanden Heuvel added a hit and an RBI.
Slaytt Nolan pitched 5⅓ innings to get the win. He allowed two hits, three runs, walked four and struck out five. Hudson Ludwig pitched the final 1⅔ innings. He allowed one hit and struck out two.
The win moved Chilton to 19-7 overall, while Algoma closed out its season at 13-9.
GIRLS SOCCER
Division 3 regional semifinals
Winneconne 6, Fox Valley Lutheran 0
WINNECONNE – The third-seeded Wolves jumped out to a 2-0 halftime advantage and never looked back as they advanced to the regional final.
Abigail Olsen got the scoring going with an unassisted goal and then got an assist from Parker Rathert to give Winneconne a 2-0 edge. Rathert finished with two assists.
Also scoring goals for the Wolves were Harper Neace, Suri Hottmann, Miraya Dodd and Olivia Godfroy. Other assists were recorded by Brooklyn Messerschmidt and Oleson.
The win moved the Wolves to 17-3 overall, while Fox Valley Lutheran closed out its season at 4-11-1.
Waupaca 7, Medford 0
WAUPACA – The Comets won their regional semifinal contest by blanking the Raiders.
Waupaca is now 6-6-2 and will play the Rhinelander Hodags at Mike Webster Stadium in Rhinelander on June 7 in the regional final.
Medford ends its season with a 6-12-1 record.
Seymour 3, Marinette 1
SEYMOUR – The Thunder improved to 7-7-2 with the win over the Marines.
Seymour will face Winneconne at 1 p.m. June 7 in Winneconne for the regional title.
Marinette finishes with a 13-4-0 record.
Cedar Grove-Belgium 11, New London 0
CEDAR GROVE – The Rockets got four goals and an assist from Cora Erickson and two goals and three assists from Arden Getschman in the win over the Bulldogs.
Cedar Grove-Belgium, which also got two gaols from Grace Konzak, and single goals from Kami Horn and Lillia Brandt, is now 22-0 and will face Kewaskum in the regional final.
New London closes out its season with a record of 3-15.
Division 4 regional semifinals
Wrightstown 8, Valders 0
WRIGHTSTOWN – The third-seeded Tigers upended the 14th-seeded Vikings.
Scoring goals for Wrightstown were Claire Theunis with three, Ruby Leiterman with two and Kiersten Verbeten and Natalie McDonald with one each.
Allie VandenHeuvel and Carlie Verbeten had two assists each, while Theunis, Carlie Smits and McDonald added one each.
Ava Krueger made two saves in net for Wrightstown.
The Tigers are now 11-6-2 overall, while Valders finished its season at 3-12-1.
Xavier 7, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah 0
APPLETON – The second-seeded Hawks rolled to the big win over the 15th-seeded Resorters.
Xavier will face Lourdes/Valley Christian at 1 p.m. June 7 at Xavier High School.
Xavier is now 15-3-1, while Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah finished its season at 1-11-2.
Howards Grove 14, Clintonville 0
HOWARDS GROVE – The Tigers had little trouble in defeating the Truckers.
Howards Grove will now face New Holstein in the regional final in Howards Grove.
Howards Grove is now 16-1, while Clintonville finishes with a record of 1-13.
Freedom 3, Denmark 1
FREEDOM – The fourth-seeded Irish cruised past the 12th-seeded Vikings to advance to the regional final against fifth-seeded Omro.
The win moved Freedom to 9-6-3, while Denmark finished its season at 2-10-1.
Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy 2, St. Mary Catholic 1
GREEN BAY – The Blazers slipped past the Zephrys to advance to the regional final against third-seeded Wrightstown.
The win moved sixth-seeded Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy to 8-6-1, while 11th-seeded St. Mary Catholic finished its season at 2-11-3.
BOYS LACROSSE
WIAA sectional semifinals
Waunakee 8, Neenah 7
WAUNAKEE – Top-seeded Waunakee slipped past the fifth-seeded Rockets to advance to the sectional final.
Neenah rallied after trailing 3-0 at halftime.
Waunakee moved to 16-4 overall, while Neenah finished its season at 13-7.
