“Congress will organise a state-wide protest on June 12, I will participate in the procession in Gadchiroli.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said Gandhi’s allegations are both delusional and an outright lie. Gandhi in an article said BJP won the 2024 assembly polls by inflating voter numbers, indulging in bogus voting and “rigging” the panel which appoints the EC. He used Kamthi constituency, 20km off Nagpur, as a case study to buttress his point.
Fadnavis said, “Rahul Gandhi is a liar. He’s making delusional statements to give a false sense of security to himself and the party.
He has insulted Maharashtra’s voters by saying this.”
Gandhi wrote that in Kamthi polls, BJP’s vote share rose by 56,000 as compared to Lok Sabha polls. “This jump came from the bank of 35,000 new voters added in Kamthi between the two elections,” he wrote.
Kamthi is represented by state BJP president and cabinet minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, who said, “The number of voters has risen in every election.
In 1999, we had just over two lakh voters in Kamthi and now it’s around 5.3 lakh. There are 11 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra which have seen such an increase due to urbanisation as people shift from big cities to neighbouring suburbs. Just like Kamthi, we have Panvel which has over 6 lakh voters, Pimpri-Chinchwad has over 5 lakh voters.
During Congress’ regime also voter numbers increased, so should we start questioning ECI over that?” DCM Eknath Shinde warned if the opposition continues to attack Mahayuti alliance, voters will show them their place in the civic elections.

“They praise the process when winning but call it rigged when losing,” he said.
Sapkal said, “Issues raised by the leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi are being replied by home minister Amit Shah and CM Devendra Fadnavis while ECI has maintained a discreet silence… The NDA govt and ECI has refused to share video recording and CCTV footage of the polling process.”
Gandhi’s article questioned the pace of rise in voters in Maharashtra between Lok Sabha polls 2024 held in April-May and Nov assembly polls. Gandhi wrote in the 5 months 41 lakh voters were added in the state compared to 31 lakh between 2019 and 2024. AICC general secretary Ramesh Chennithala said, “With irrefutable facts and unflinching clarity, Rahul Gandhi has exposed a chilling truth, the mandate of the people has been hijacked, not by the will of the people, but through manipulation, deceit and systematic assault on democratic institutions.
