The Discontinued Aldi Coconut Snack You Might Never Eat Again

Belmont Biscuits Coconut Rings have been discontinued by Aldi. The ring-shaped biscuits were a popular tea time dunker in the UK. Aldi Australia shows a listing for a Belmont BISCuits Coconut Cookie which, visually at least, appears to be very close to the Coconut Rings, simply without a hole in the middle. Some shoppers claim that you can try to get discontinued Aldi products back by filling out surveys on the bottom of your receipt, and that may be worth a try if you are broken up about a particular item like the coconut Rings. The biscuits are a match in both packaging and content for a few other ring- shaped British coconut biscuits, including McVitie’s Tasties Coconut Rings.

We were coco-nutty about a circular Aldi biscuit, and now, the cookie has crumbled. Okay, that’s it on the puns. On the long list of discontinued Aldi products that we’re not getting back, Belmont Biscuits Coconut Rings are a fairly new loss. News broke about the cookies being 86’d in December 2024, coming hot on the heels of the world learning that a popular vegan Aldi chocolate bar had been discontinued — making the quarter a bad one for those with a sweet tooth. Across the pond in the UK, where the biscuit was a popular tea time dunker, shock and outrage rippled across Aldi’s social media fandom.

“@AldiUK where have these gone?” one English shopper wailed on X, explaining that she was in the market for 50 packages of the biscuits/cookies for her fiancé’s milestone 50th birthday, and couldn’t find them after visiting multiple Aldi outlets. Aldi UK politely responded, confirming that the product was discontinued. It seems that the coconut rings were taken off shelves at the same time as another sugary favorite, Chocolate Rich Tea cookies. The Belmont Biscuits cookies seem to be a match in both packaging and content for a few other ring-shaped British coconut biscuits, including McVitie’s Tasties Coconut Rings and Hill Biscuit Coconut Rings, but, of course, neither of those brands are something that you can pick up on your Aldi run!

Aldi has a habit of axing products from its lineup with no warning. Sometimes these decisions have to do with an item not selling well, but, other times, it’s simply a matter of needing room for new products in the rotation. After all, Aldi locations are small and can’t carry an endless list of SKUs like bigger grocery stores. On Reddit, a thread about discontinued food item disappointment racked up hundreds of replies. Some shoppers claim that you can try to get discontinued Aldi products back by filling out surveys on the bottom of your receipt, and that may be worth a try if you are broken up about a particular item like the Coconut Rings. Doing something is always better than doing nothing at all.

All hope may not be lost for every single coconut cookie lover, however. Aldi Australia shows a listing for a Belmont Biscuits Coconut Cookie which, visually at least, appears to be very close to the Coconut Rings, simply without a hole in the middle. The brief product description mentions that the cookies are vegetarian-friendly and made with real dried coconut. In the States, Aldi features Benton’s Coconut Cookie Thins, the packaging of which mentions real toasted coconut. Will either of these products make it over to the UK, where Aldi fans are missing their coconut biscuits to dunk at tea time? It remains to be seen, but, for our British friends’ sake, we hope so!
