That quiet dominance may not show up on highlight reels, but it’s one of the reasons Ramsey remains one of the most respected corners in the league.
Now, he’s making headlines for a different reason.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Ramsey will not report to the team’s mandatory minicamp this week as trade talks continue.

This decision benefits both sides. The Dolphins avoid risking injury to a player they’re actively shopping, and Ramsey avoids the media circus that would follow him during workouts.
Back in April, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier addressed the situation, saying the decision to move on was mutual — even though Ramsey never formally requested a trade.
“As reported by Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, Grier said:
‘At the end of the day, Jalen did not ask for a trade. So, we went through the process and just felt that after numerous conversations — and then talking last week with Jalen and his agent — that it was best to move forward. And [it’s in] the best interest of the Miami Dolphins and for Jalen Ramsey.’”
Potential Landing Spots for Jalen Ramsey
So where might Ramsey land?
According to an ESPN report, the Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Los Angeles Rams are among the teams interested in acquiring the seven-time Pro Bowler.
Of those three, the Rams and Chargers make the most sense. Both teams reached the playoffs last season and have rosters positioned to win now. Carolina, by contrast, is still rebuilding and may not be one player away — even one of Ramsey’s caliber.
According to Spotrac, Ramsey is under contract through 2028 and is owed $91.8 million.
As Dolphins minicamp rolls on without him, the question isn’t whether Jalen Ramsey will move — it’s when, and for how much.

Jalen Ramsey will not attend the Dolphins’ mandatory minicamp. The Dolphins are still looking for a trade partner for the cornerback. Ramsey is expected to be a free agent after the season. He has been linked to a number of teams, including the New York Jets and the New England Patriots, in the past, but has not yet been signed to a long-term deal. He is currently in the middle of a contract dispute with the Dolphins.
“The Dolphins appear unwilling to take on any of Jalen Ramsey’s guaranteed money to facilitate a trade. Teams are very interested in trading for Ramsey, but don’t want to take on his full contract. This is the current hold up,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported.
Ramsey would still be a significant addition to whichever team acquires him, although he may no longer be seen strictly as a cornerback.
“The more people I talk to, the more I think Jalen Ramsey’s value now really is as a safety,” Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer wrote. “That, by the way, doesn’t mean he can’t play corner anymore. He can. It’s just that, at this point, if you’re bringing him in, leaning into what he still does well and planning on having him as more than a stopgap rental, then safety is likely where his future lies.”
The compensation Miami is expected to receive in return has been underwhelming—projected to be Day 3 draft picks. Amid the ongoing tension, Ramsey made a notable decision on Sunday, reportedly choosing to skip the Dolphins’ mandatory minicamp.
“Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Ramsey isn’t planning to attend the Dolphins’ mandatory minicamp this week as he and the team continue searching for a trade suitor,” Bleacher Report’s Andrew Peters wrote.

The NFL insider also indicated that Ramsey would remain away from the team until the situation is resolved.
A former All-Pro defender and seven-time Pro Bowler, Ramsey has spent his last two seasons with the Dolphins and appeared in all 17 games last season in South Florida.
It would appear that both sides are ready to move on from each other as the organization begins to prepare for the 2025 season.
Asked about it last week, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel told reporters he wasn’t paying much mind to it.
“I don’t really check in on a day-to-day [basis]. Zero has changed from my end. I let [general manager] Chris [Grier] work, and I’m diligently coaching,” he said.

All of this comes a season removed from the Dolphins signing Ramsey to a three-year, $72.3 million extension and making him the highest-paid corner in the NFL.
In order to swing any sort of deal, a team would have to be willing to take on the massive contract that includes a $16.6 million cap hit for the upcoming season.
Ramsey did see a dip in his play last season when he missed the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2016.
He had 60 tackles, a sack, two interceptions and 11 passes defended.
Ramsey had been taken fifth overall in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Jaguars and played there until he was traded to the Rams in the middle of the 2019 season.
He played in Los Angeles until he was traded to Miami in the 2023 offseason.
Cowboys address Jalen Ramsey trade rumors, give injury update on Trevon Diggs as CB remains huge question mark

I talked to Trevon last week,” Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday. “He’s down in Miami doing some training, no timeline for the return, he had to come back two weeks ago to get checked out by the doc,” Jones said. “You know he’s getting his work done, and obviously this is not mandatory,” Jones added. “We’ll know a lot more when we get more to get his [Kirvin] Elam,” he said.”We don’t have anything that’s on the front burner,” Jones says. “Our preference is to always have him here,” he adds. “Huge fans of what Britt does with [the players], but at the same time, that’s his choice” “We know who he is working with and feel good about it,” Jones adds. ‘We’ll see kind of how things evolve,” he says. ‘He’s going to be the key’
DaRon Bland, the NFL’s 2023 interceptions leader, is still around and looks strong at organized team activities. Reliable nickel cornerback Jourdan Lewis departed in free agency after eight seasons with the Cowboys to sign a three-year, $30 million contract with $20 million guaranteed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Rookie third-round pick cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. is working his way back from a torn ACL he suffered early last college football season with East Carolina.
Dallas’ other All-Pro cornerback, 2021 first-team All Pro Trevon Diggs, hasn’t been in the building this offseason. Diggs, who is 26-years-old and has played just 13 games combined the last two seasons, is rehabbing out in Florida after a second significant knee injury in as many seasons. He tore his ACL in Week 3 of the 2023 season, and he underwent a procedure for a chondral tissue graft in January that will help replace damaged cartilage joints in his knee. However, the team has been communicating with Diggs and likes where he’s at with his rehab work.
“It’s going good. I talked to Trevon last week,” Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday. “He’s down in Miami doing some training, no timeline for the return, he had to come back a couple of weeks ago to get checked out by the doc. All signs are positive.”
Cowboys COO and EVP Stephen Jones concurred with Schottenheimer, making it clear they’re pleased with how Diggs’ knee is progressing.
“I think our guys do a good job of communicating, and obviously this is not mandatory,” Jones said Tuesday. “You know he’s getting his work done. Our guys are keeping up with it. Very pleased with where he is, and he’s being diligent. We know who he is working with and feel good about it.”
The Cowboys would like for Diggs to be handling his rehab internally with director of rehabilitation Britt Brown at The Star, their team facility in Frisco, Texas, but they look forward to seeing him at mandatory minicamp next week.
“Our preference is to always have him here,” Jones said. “Huge fans of what Britt does with [the players], but at the same time, that’s his choice. So it’s as I said, it’s not mandatory, and our understanding is he’s getting work done. He’ll be back in, and we’ll get a good look at him next week.”
The team doesn’t feel like it will have a strong read on Diggs’ availability for the 2025 season until training camp gets underway in late July and kicks into high gear in August.

Cowboys clarify interest in All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey
Given the injuries to both Diggs and Revel, it’s not hard to connect the dots regarding Dallas potentially making another blockbuster trade this offseason for Miami Dolphins three-time first-team All Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Dolphins general manager Chris Grier indicated the two sides are looking to mutually part ways with each other this offseason.
“We don’t have anything that’s on the front burner,” Jones said when asked about any notable post-June 1 moves.
When asked directly about the Cowboys’ rumored interest in Ramsey, a 30-year-old seven-time Pro Bowler, Jones kept his remarks brief. It’s a no for now.
“No, he plays for the Dolphins,” Jones said.
One of the primary reasons for Jones’ stance on Ramsey being a no is that the Cowboys don’t feel like they’ll have a clear understanding of Diggs’ and Revel’s timetables until training camp when the pads come on. The wait is on in Dallas.
“That’s going to be the key between guys like Diggs and Revel in particular, guys that can make a huge difference for us,” Jones said. “We’ll know a lot more when we get to camp, but we do like what [Andrew] Booth was doing. Really like what [Kaiir] Elam is doing. [Caelen] Carson is really starting to get his legs again, and of course [DaRon] Bland is Bland. He’s one of the best in the business. Great to have him out there. We’ll see kind of how things evolve.”
