This follows the green light from La Liga, which has agreed to Barcelona’s request to play their first four league matches away from home.
Due to the structure of the upcoming campaign, there will be no midweek league fixture at the end of August, providing the club an extra week to finalise the renovations.
Luck on Barcelona’s side
The league calendar for the 2025-26 season begins on the weekend of August 16-17, and continues with matchdays on August 23-24 and August 30-31.
After that, the fourth league matchday will take place on September 13-14, which is also an away fixture for Barcelona.
That paves the way for their first home game to be scheduled on September 20-21, assuming all goes according to plan.

The significance of the date is even greater given that there is no La Liga midweek fixture scheduled before the Champions League resumes.

UEFA matches are expected to begin on September 23-24, with the possibility of the first matchday falling even earlier, on the 16th or 17th. Fortunately for Barcelona, this setup gives them a better buffer to ensure the stadium is match-ready.
Return hinges on turf installation
Barcelona are racing against time to ensure the turf is ready after the Post Malone concert on September 12, as the laying of the new grass will commence shortly after that event at the Camp Nou.
In the unlikely event that things don’t go to plan, the club has the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc on standby for emergencies, but they are optimistic that it won’t be needed.
While UEFA regulations demand that all Champions League group matches be played at the same stadium, Barcelona are confident they will be back at Camp Nou in time for the second matchday of the Champions League, scheduled for September 30 or October 1.
