Move night

Marsh field trip

The Redwood Region Audubon Society will present a free guided field trip at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary Saturday from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

Bring binoculars and meet trip leader Kathryn Wendel at the end of South I Street (Klopp Lake) in Arcata to enjoy incredible views of Humboldt Bay, easy-to-walk trails and a great diversity of birdlife.

Tour the marsh

Friends of the Arcata Marsh will sponsor a free tour of the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday.

Meet leader Leslie Anderson at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center on South G Street for a 90-minute walk that will take place rain or shine. For more information, call 707-826-2359.

Birding tour

The Redwood Region Audubon Society will offer a free guided birding tour along the Eureka Waterfront Trail on Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. with leader Ralph Bucher.

This relatively urban trail offers the potential to observe species abundance and diversity compared to many more remote locations. Watch out for cormorants, loons, grebes and even otters diving for their meals in the bay alongside the trail. This walk is on a flat, paved trail that is wheelchair accessible. Garden workday

Volunteers are sought for the next McKinleyville Botanical Garden workday on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at this small, community driven garden in Hiller Park which features native species.

Volunteers will help create habitat for the local bees, birds, butterflies and other little creatures and can also take home some cuttings. Bring a bucket and garden tool, or just your enthusiasm.

To get to the garden, go west on Hiller Road in McKinleyville to the parking lot for Hammond Trail/soccer field/dog park. The garden is adjacent to the playground.

Dance party

A dance featuring live music and “a great floor” is set for Monday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 4328 Campton Road, Eureka. Admission is $9.

Tvm chaa-me’ Day

The Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation, along with Redwoods National & State Parks and Redwood Parks Conservancy, will host Tvm-chaa-me’ Day featuring Taa-laa-wa Dee-ni’ Wee-ya’ (Tolowa People’s Language) on Monday. Parking will be across from the Hiouchi Visitor Center at 1600 Highway 199, Crescent City. Shuttles will be provided to the event location.

Tvm chaa-me’ Day is a special event at Chvn-su’lh-dvn (Jedediah Smith State Park) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tvm-chaa-me’ (day use area).

The day will include Tolowa Dee-ni’ waa-tr’vslh-‘a ~ (cultural & language) presentation, Tvm-chaa-me’ historical significance, wee-ya’ (language) competitions, xee-nvs (old growth redwood canoe) exhibit, Tolowa Dee-ni’ Mvsr-tan’-ne’ (food) demonstrations of san-chvn t’uu-‘i’ (acorn soup), baa-shuk ghvt-sra (sandbread) and lhuk daa-tr’vlh-t’es (open-fire fish roast), as well as partnership information and services tables. Labyrinth walk

The monthly Labyrinth Walk will be offered at Christ Church Eureka, 15th and H streets, on June 21 from 2 to 5 p.m.

The theme will be the Summer Solstice, however any life event can be a source of reflection during the walk. All are welcome to drop in for a meditative walk on this labyrinth.

A labyrinth art activity will be available to creatively express your walk experience, along with tea and snacks.

If you are new to labyrinth walking, simple instructions and information about labyrinth history will be given by Kathryne DeLorme, Veriditas-certified labyrinth facilitator.

Mario Kart tourney

The Eureka Library is hosting an all-ages “Mario Kart Tournament,” and everyone is invited to join the fun.

Collectors Expo

The NorCal Collectors Expo will be held June 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the D Street Neighborhood Center, 1301 D St., Arcata. Admission is free.

There will be 40 tables of sports cards, record albums, memorabilia, Pokemon, MTG, video games, action figures, comics and more. Local sports card shop Rain Delay Card Co. will be accepting PSA and SGC grading submissions on site. Roman’s Food Truck will be on-site as well.
