LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Kroger store in Louisville has closed some aisles after the health department found evidence of a rodent issue.
Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness Spokesperson Kathy Turner said the department discovered evidence of a rodent infestation at the Goss Avenue Kroger in Germantown.
There were three aisles affected, including aisles containing bread and pasta products. The health department ordered Kroger to closed the affected aisles, remove all product from the shelves and break down the shelving.
A Kroger spokesperson released the following statement regarding the rodent infestation:
“At Kroger, one of our top priorities is to provide our customers with a clean and fresh shopping experience. As soon as we were made aware of this incident, we immediately initiated additional cleaning and sanitization protocols at this store and have redoubled our efforts with pest control specialists. We also worked in conjunction with the Louisville Metro Health Department to fully resolve the issue and ensure our store meets the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.”
The health department said they sent inspectors back to Kroger Thursday to see what progress had been made. The department said there is still work to be done by Kroger.
As of Friday, the Goss Avenue Kroger remains open and operational.
