Amid the controversy surrounding a new name, ‘Sanjay Verma‘, in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, the police have cracked the mystery and have identified the man in question.

The police have revealed that the name was used by Sonam Raghuvanshi to save the contact of her lover, Raj Kushwaha.

Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in her husband Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder case, allegedly used the name to escape any suspicions of her being linked to Kushwaha, it was learnt.
As the police continue the probe, they revealed Sonam Raghuvanshi and ‘Sanjay Verma’ (Raj Kushwaha) exchanged as many as 239 calls within 39 days.
Hours before the revelation, Sonam Raghuvanshi’s brother, Govind, while speaking to reporters, had said he was not aware of any person named Sanjay Verma.
“I don’t know anything about Sanjay Verma. I have also learned today that Sanjay’s name is also coming up in this case,” he said.
On Wednesday, a Meghalaya police team questioned the family members of Sonam Raghuvanshi and her alleged lover and co-accused Raj Kushwaha in Indore.
The investigators are trying to find out whether there was any other factor or motive besides Sonam’s pre-marriage affair with Kushwaha that led to the murder of Raghuvanshi (29) while on honeymoon in Meghalaya.

The murder scene was recreated in Sohra in the presence of the accused Sonam Raghuvanshi and four others, including Raj Kushwaha.

Raja Raghuvanshi married Sonam on May 11, and the couple left for Meghalaya on May 20. Three days later, they went missing.
Raja Raghuvanshi’s mutilated body was found in a gorge near a waterfall in the Sohra area of East Khasi Hills district on June 2, while his wife, Sonam, remained untraceable.
She was traced and arrested from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur in the early hours of June 9.
Subsequently, her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, and three others – believed to be hitmen who executed Raja Raghuvanshi- were also arrested.
Upon her arrest, Sonam claimed she was drugged, abducted, and abandoned in Ghazipur. However, the police said she had surrendered in the case.

The accused in the case were handed over to the Meghalaya Police, who were probing the other angles in the case.
