BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – The Summer All-Star Series is the final chance for athletes to put on their high school jerseys.

For Century’s Holland Fitterer, it won’t be the final time she hits the court, though.

The Optimist Volleyball series represents Holland Fitterer’s final chance to play in her home state before college at Concordia Moorhead. But it means much more than that.

“Still really nice to have this one last time, being with my high school teammates and Jamie too,” said Holland.

And it’s one last time with her high school head coach Jamie Zastoupil.

“I’ve been watching the other girls interact with her too, and they’ve come to love her like I do. She’s so much fun and she’s just a great coach,” said Holland.

Of course, that love is mutual.

“I’ve said to her, ‘I don’t know what we’re going to do without you, who’s going to keep us on track?’ But she’s done a great job mentoring,” said N.D. Optimist Red Team coach and Century volleyball head coach Jamie Zastoupil. “She talks the game the entire time, and not only does she talk, she’s positive and I think that just fills everybody.”

Coach Zastoupil believes that Holland’s got the talent to contribute at the next level.

“She has what it takes, she’s so determined and such a hard worker, she’s going to do great,” said Zastoupil. “She is not afraid of anything.”

And Holland is ready to meet that challenge head-on.

“I’m just excited to continue to play the sport I love. I think that was one of my main reasons, I didn’t really have a personal goal, I just wanted to continue to play volleyball,” said Holland.

Holland will be with the Cobbers this fall.
