Dangerous thunderstorms, funnel clouds possible in Alberta: Environment Canada
Environment Canada has issued a series of weather watches and warnings for a large swath of Alberta. Slow moving thunderstorms are developing along the foothills and will move eastward throughout the day. Potential for heavy rain, hail large enough to cause injury or property damage and wind gusts strong enough to damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles.
Another day of potentially dangerous weather is expected for much of Alberta on Wednesday.
Environment Canada has issued a series of weather watches and warnings for a large swath of the province, stretching from the far northwest of the province to just north of Lethbridge .
The national weather agency warns that slow moving thunderstorms are developing along the foothills and will move eastward throughout the day, creating the potential for heavy rain, hail large enough to cause injury or property damage and wind gusts strong enough to damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles.

Environment Canada warns that severe storms also have the potential to produce funnel clouds or tornadoes and is urging anyone who hears thunder to seek shelter.

Environment Canada warns of severe thunderstorms, possible funnel clouds in Alberta
Environment Canada issues severe thunderstorm watches and a special weather statement. Large hail, heavy winds, heavy rainfall, and potential funnel clouds are possible.
When: Friday afternoon and evening.
Where: Central and southeastern Alberta, stretching from just south of Hinton, through Edmonton to the Montana border, and from Swan Hills to Innisfail.
Why: Thunderstorms are developing over the Alberta foothills and moving northeast, with conditions favorable for severe weather and funnel cloud formation.
How: Environment Canada issued warnings; the Alberta Hail Suppression Project launched aircraft to seed clouds with silver iodide to reduce hail severity.
