Banks are closed for the Juneteenth holiday. Justin Bieber posted a video to his Instagram of him with paparazzi. President Obama celebrated the day by posting a photo of his family. Kerry Washington posted an Instagram video of herself in a bikini. She said, “It’s a beautiful day for #Juneteenth! Do what brings YOU joy today!” The U.S. Capitol Historical Society says Juneteenth is a federal holiday. It is celebrated on June 17, the anniversary of the Civil War-era event in Texas.

Are Banks Closed Today for Juneteenth Holiday 2025?
According to CBS News, several banks are closed today for the Juneteenth holiday. Closed banks on their list include Bank of America, Well Fargo, and J.P. Morgan Chase. USA Today says Truist, CitiBank, PNC, and CapitalOne are also closed in observance.
Juneteenth is a federal holiday. President Joe Biden signed the the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act at the White House on June 17, 2021, per the United States Capitol Historical Society.
U.S. post offices are also closed for Juneteenth, with no mail being delivered. However, Entrepreneur.com says UPS and FedEx are operating on the holiday.
Barack Obama, Justin Bieber, & More Stars Celebrate Juneteenth 2025
“Scandal” star Kerry Washington, famed for her portrayal of political fixer Olivia Pope, took to her Instagram to post a joyful video from the pool for Juneteenth. Clad in a black bikini and shades, Washington mouthed over the trending sound, “It’s a beautiful day to be a black woman!”
She captioned the video, “It’s a beautiful day for #Juneteenth! Do what brings YOU joy today!”
Justin Bieber logged on to write, “HAPPY JUNETEENTH” on his Instagram stories. Along with his holiday post, he included a video of his recent confrontation with paparazzi.
In the clip, Bieber says “I’m standing on business at the beach!” He captioned his comments to the paparazzi, which were placed over a musical beat, “Where imma be this summer soon as the weather gets nice.”
Barack Obama celebrated by sharing some historical knowledge. His Instagram post read, “Juneteenth marks the delayed news of freedom reaching the last enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas. 160 years later, we continue to honor that day and our ongoing fight for justice and equality.”
The 44th president of the United States added, “We remember that even in the that even in the darkest hours, there is cause to hope for tomorrow’s light.”
Obama’s Juneteenth tribute came a week after he celebrated daughter Sasha Obama’s 24th birthday by posting a sweet family photo.
