New details about the circumstances surrounding Anne Burrell’s death have reportedly come to light.

The Food Network star, who died earlier this week at the age of 55, was allegedly found inside her Brooklyn home next to “dozens of pills,” according to a Thursday, June 19, report published by The New York Post. Further details about the investigation have not been shared. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.

News broke on Tuesday, June 17, that Burrell had died.

“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered,” her family said in a statement to Us. “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit and boundless love remain eternal.”

A representative for the New York City Police Department later confirmed to Us that Burrell had been pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities had responded to a 911 call, during which they discovered that she was “unconscious and unresponsive.”

A cause of death has not yet been revealed. The Worst Cooks in America host is survived by her mother and her sister as well as her husband, Stuart Claxton, and her stepson, Javier. (Burrell and Claxton got married in October 2021.)

Immediately following Burrell’s death, several of her culinary peers shared tributes and offered their condolences.

“We are deeply saddened to share the news that beloved chef, Anne Burrell, passed away this morning,” Food Network wrote in a Tuesday statement. “Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent — teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.”

Fellow chef Rachael Ray, who was a close friend of Burrell’s, noted in her own tribute that the news had “truly shaken” her.

“I can’t quite believe it — such a strong, vibrant, fearless woman, so full of life and love, could be gone so soon,” Ray, 56, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, June 18. “Anne was a rockstar! I came to know her well through multiple seasons of Worst Cooks on Food Network, and she became so much more than a colleague.”

She added, “Anne honored me by asking me to be her bridesmaid, something I’d only done once before for my sister. Despite being surrounded by incredible chefs, she never once made me feel self-conscious about not being one — she always treated me as one of the gang. When we hosted Worst Cooks together, we had the most incredible laughs. She even cooked for me and my guests at my wedding anniversary in Italy.”
