– Themen’s crew team, following a banner season that saw three teams finish in the top 20 nationally at IRA National Championships, will travel to England to compete at the prestigious 2025 Henley Royal Regatta.The varsity eight boat, after winning the Dad Vail Regatta’s Richard O’Brien – James Hanna Trophy in May, is one of 72 entries into the Temple Challenge Cup, and an additional group of Owls has entered the Prince Albert Challenge Cup (43 entries). An announcement of crews that will be required to qualify for the main draw will be made on Henley Royal Regatta’s website on Sunday, June 22.If either of the Temple entries require qualification, those qualifying races will take place at the Henley-on-Thames on Friday, June 27. The main draw (32 teams for Temple Challenge Cup, 16 teams for Prince Albert Challenge Cup) will be announced the following day, Saturday, June 28, with head-to-head main draw competition to start on Tuesday, July 1. Temple Challenge Cup and Prince Albert Challenge Cup racing is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 2. The schedule of events for main draw racing is located here, and will be updated regularly.

Temple University Institutional Advancement will host a pair of events surrounding the regatta. Details on those events, as well as information on how to purchase tickets, and suggested hotel and transportation details are below.

If you are planning to attend Henley Royal Regatta, there are two main spectator areas:

REGATTA ENCLOSURE (BUY TICKETS HERE): This is a a public enclosure, with casual dress, food tents, drinks, seating along the course. This is a good option for families.

STEWARDS’ ENCLOSURE: Private, invitation-only enclosure requires a badge. This is a social hub for alumni, university guests, and the rowing community.
